Denise Webb sends us our Photo π· of The Day ! ππππ Today’s 4 on 4 Volleyball π

Brayden Smoot is an extremely likable young man π¨, as is his twin brother Bryce and his parents. The young man is what one would call a year around Athlete.
In the fall be puts on the pads and plays football. During the winter months he laces up his sneakers π and plays basketball π, then in the Spring season he runs πββοΈ Track for Head Coach Shawn Montgomery.
Earlier this season Smoot qualified for the State Track Meet being held this weekend at Liberty University in Lynchburg.
Here’s the note forwarded to me by Coach Montgomery about the schedule :
______________________________
Brayden 100 Trials 3:30 on Friday
Finals if he advances at 12:40 on Saturday
Corrie-Long Jump starts at 9:30 on Saturday but Class 4 is 1st. My guess is 11:30 or 12:00.
________________________________
Brayden will arrive in Lynchburg shortly after 1pm and then do his best to loosen up before his time trial and then around 3:30 head out to the starting blocks and give his best for CCHS for somewhere in the area of 10+ seconds.
After he gives his best for that brief period of time he will wait around to find out if he will be invited back on Saturday. If not, he will head home, knowing that he gave his very best.
Flashing back to the Girls Basketball team traveling over to the same campus earlier this year for their season ending Regional tournament game, I remembered thinking that a five hour loop was a long day for 90 minutes of game time. Brayden won’t even get one full minute of game time…….
The older one gets the harder it becomes to jump in the car π and make a five hour loop. Hence, I am writing β this post π« from Lynchburg as Thursday night π is about to become Friday morning.
What do I hope to accomplish by being here for his few seconds ? I know that I don’t contain any magical powers nor do I think he will run faster because he sees me here.
Caring about our Youth and trying hard to recognize how much of their time they sacrifice to compete for us is the main motivation. Driving here and tying up a day for one person is extreme and I understand that but thats me being me and I’m happy to do so for an impressive young man!
Tomorrow morning, if you have time around 11am, please π take the time to stop by the High School π« and show support for Brayden, Corrie Delp, the Coaches & Family πͺ. I know that they will appreciate it. π

We are having a homerun derby for the 11-12 yr old boys tomorrow night at St Paul. Warm ups start at 6 and the actual contest will be at 7pm under the lights. We have a 28β trophy for the winner and a 24β trophy for runner up.
Big Time feeling with it being under the Lights !

Four Student Athletes qualified for the State Track and Field Meet Friday and Saturday at Liberty University.
Coaches Shawn Montgomery and Jon Delp will be escorting the two that will compete. Brayden Smoot and Corrie Delp are heading out and there will be a celebratory send off at 11am!

Being given an opportunity to speak on what I now see as my life’s work is a threat, its as simple as that ! First off, thank you for the invitation π and secondly, such a pleasant group of people to visit with and I made the most of my 20-25 minutes.
The only thing that I enjoy doing more than writing β about what I believe is to talk about what I believe.
I sincerely hope the group enjoyed the conversation half as much as I did!
Please keep up the great work that you all do !
