Thank You to the Rotary Club for the honor πŸŽ–of speaking at their Luncheon today ! Great folks standing for what they believe in…

Being given an opportunity to speak on what I now see as my life’s work is a threat, its as simple as that ! First off, thank you for the invitation πŸ™ and secondly, such a pleasant group of people to visit with and I made the most of my 20-25 minutes.

The only thing that I enjoy doing more than writing ✍ about what I believe is to talk about what I believe.

I sincerely hope the group enjoyed the conversation half as much as I did!

Please keep up the great work that you all do !

Down on Main Street in the Big City is always a treat for me.

Is there anything that is more home town then Main Street ? Almost every town has a one and I love ours here on The Hill.

Kevin Worrell and his Barber Shop is the closest thing for me to a throwback to a simpler time. This morning πŸŒ„ the place is stacked full of people (eight at this point) and nobody seems to mind.

Later today I will be speaking at a Luncheon here is town and Kevin is tasked with the responsibility of making sure I’m as presentable as possible.

The number of conversations that are bouncing back and forth is what makes the time here so enjoyable. Nobody is trying to solve the World’s problems or dominate the space. It takes me back to what life was like before the (fill in your time here, for me its the creation of 24/7 media outlets).

Right next door πŸšͺ is my next stop βœ‹, at The Carroll News. Allen Worrell and Plucky Sidekick David are hard at work trying hard to frame up the next edition of the newspaper πŸ“° as this week’s paper is just hitting the streets. The pairing of these two remains as under appreciated as it gets nowadays. Having spent the past 46 years in the newspaper business I am thrilled that our local paper is still being printed each week. I met my quota for stories this week to they have to allow me inside!

βœ‹#3 will be to say Thank You πŸ™ to Ron Cochran at Omega Office 🏒 Supply. For the second straight season Ron was gracious enough to assist in our Softball Foul Ball contest. This season we had out of town winners from Bassett, Tazewell, Galax and Radford in addition to our locals. Without Ron’s help I am reduced to a guy with a microphone 🎀 counting foul balls.

These three, Worrell, Worrell and Cochran are my favorite three stops as the great Bob Seger would sing, Down on Main Street. It’s easy to focus on what we don’t have here but its just so much more fun to celebrate what we do have !
