Head Baseball βΎοΈ Coach and Athletic Director in waiting, Kevin DeHaven has the following things to share about his final season at the helm of the Baseball program :
For me to say today was hard is an understatement! It was my last day coaching at CCHS! To all The players Iβve had the privilege and opportunity to coach, I LOVE EACH AND EVERYONE OF YOU! Thank you for everything! The memories have been amazing! GO CAVS!
Thank You Sir and Congratulations on a terrific season π
Throughout the Softball season we have a Ceremonial First Pitch to start our evening. Tonight was our 10th home date and therefore our 10th First Pitch but this one had three parts.
First Pitch #1 – Brayden Smoot and Corrie Delp, State Track π£ Athletes that have qualified for the State Meet. Davis Reitzel and Alyssa Ervin also qualified but could not attend the game.
First Pitch #2 – Ashlyn Newman, part of our Fab Four group of Seniors that are leaving The Hill as new Career Record Holders. We sadly couldn’t complete the quartet making it to our Pitching circle after a multitude of rain outs but Miss Newman brought us to 3/4 !
First Pitch #3 – With Emma Leath as the spokesperson, our players asked if they could have the opportunity to show their Love, Respect and Appreciation for Head Coach Rick Nester and lead Assistant Jeff Tobler. I will not hide from the fact that this gesture impressed me but did not surprise me.
I am fairly sure, if not positive, that other squads have similar feelings about their Coaches but aren’t able to share their thoughts in this manner.
Softball season ended just under two hours later but the memories created by this group will stay around for a spell !
