First things first, last night Patrick County defeated Floyd County in the regular season finale for both teams. This allows the Cougars to finish the Three Rivers District season at 9-3.
Carroll County (16-3 overall ) currently sits at 9-2 heading into tonights match-up with Radford (2-9). The Lady π© Cavaliers win the regular season outright with a victory tonight over the Bobcats as they would finish up at 10-2.
If CCHS were to lose versus Radford they would drop into a tie π for first place but would win the π based on having swept PCHS in the regular season.
That part I had covered, which why I was able to immediately announce we had won the District as soon as Laynie-Jo Leonard crossed home plate.
Now, let’s take a look at the Regional tournament π. Just finished up a fun conversation about this with Mr. Gallimore and here’s what we know for FACTS :
Tomorrow’s play-in games are as follows (7 vs 10) ( 8 vs 9 ). The winner π of those games moves on to face the two Top Seeds on Friday.
William Byrd vs Tunstall
Pulaski vs Hidden Valley
Not sure which is which both we know those are the games scheduled.
Next up is the two best teams not set to play, meaning they are #1+#2. Those two teams are Christiansburg and Staunton River. They await the play-in winners.
Next Fact – Bassett (1-19) and Northside (4-19) are the teams on the outside looking in. The Vikings went from State Champs π to a four win season.
That leaves us the four teams in the middle – Carroll County (16-3, 9-2) is set to host Lord Botetourt (12-9, 8-3) and Cave Spring (15-5, 9-3) is set to host Abingdon (12-8, 8-4).
This group includes 3 vs 6 and 4 vs 5 but we just aren’t sure which is which?
Someone out there knows the answer and maybe π they’ll tell us but either way I spent 22 quality minutes working on it with Bill and that makes it a Great Day !
