19 – 1 + Regular Season Championship + Tournament Championship for Head Coach Steve Combs and his Junior Varsity Baseball ⚾️ Team !!! Let’s call it One for the Thumb !!!!!

Alleghany edged out Carroll County earlier in the season but that turned out to be the lone blemish on the final record after the Cavaliers steam rolled the Cougars 8-0 Monday night in the Three Rivers District tournament Championship game.

Head Coach Steve Combs put the baseball in the hands of Peyton Spencer and his pitcher took in from there. Spencer faced just 22 batters, one over the minimum and 11 times he sent the Cougar at the plate back to the bench wondering what happened to them?

The key to the Cavs offense was putting the bat on the ball. The combination of six hits, seven errors, three walks and one moon shot Home Run by first baseman Grady Quesenberry led to eight runs for the home team.

CCHS broke through with four runs in the bottom of the third inning, capitalizing on three Cougar misques in the frame. Colby Goad led off with an infield single and after that the AHS infield defense just came off the tracks. All seven errors happened in the third and fourth innings and by the time the visitors regrouped they were trailing 7-0.

Quesenberry added the icing to the cake πŸŽ‚ when he launched an absolute Bomb πŸ’£ over the tall fence in left field.

Combs and his assistant Coach Adam Nester combined to lead the team to a sterling 19-1 record and a fifth consecutive District Crown πŸ‘‘. The number of times that the Cavs finished off their opponent quicker than seven innings along the way further supports the amount of dominanting performances the team racked up.

” The played well today they were determined and clicking in all areas today,” said Combs.
” I couldn’t be more proud of them what a way to end on!”

That completes the story I will submit to Allen Worrell.

We have a number of Family πŸ‘ͺ photos πŸ“· that we will create posts πŸ“« with individually so they can all receive equal Light !

Senior Day for Jabin Talley, ahead of a Regional Road Trip !

After having their Senior Day match versus Floyd County postponed so many times it had to be canceled, Jabin Talley finally enjoyed his moment in the Sun 🌞 this afternoon!

Talley heads to Cave Spring today with 71 career victories under his belt, a number high enough to earn him the distinction of being the All-Time record holder for wins.

Principal Chuck Thompson and Athletic Director Darrin Mathews presenting Talley with a plaque and a Rose 🌹 in honor of his four years of competition for Carroll County High School.

Mom πŸ‘© and Dad πŸ‘¨ with Jabin and his autographed oversized Tennis 🎾 ball.

Both Jabin (Individual and Doubles) and Ethan Richardson (Doubles) will be playing next week in those matches as well.

Cave Spring will host the team today at 4:30 with the winner advancing to the second round tomorrow afternoon.

Young Mr. Marshall singled his approval after the Ceremony !

Four opportunities to say Go Cavaliers tonight !

Two regular season contests over in Stuart, one Tennis 🎾 Regional tournament match up in Roanoke and one winner πŸ† take all showdown on the Baseball ⚾️ Diamond πŸ’Ž for the Junior Varsity team.

For the second straight season the one game District Tourney has Alleghany facing our Cavaliers with the big difference between the two is tonight’s game is on The Hill !

Last year CCHS won a thriller up in the Highlands to claim the πŸ‘‘. This year Steve Combs and his Nine won the regular season so we host this one.

Boys πŸ‘¦ Tennis 🎾 will depart shortly after 2pm for the trek over to Cave Spring for the team portion of the Regional tournament. It has been a while since either the Boys or the Girls qualified as a team but this time around the Boys made it and the Girls just missed.

The team lost out on hosting Floyd County for Senior Day so before departure today they will hold a short Senior Day moment for Jabin Talley.

Varsity only double header for the Soccer squads at Patrick County this evening. Not sure if either match will effect the Regional seedings or not but I’m sure that both teams will enjoy getting back on the Pitch as its been a while since either has played.

I believe that the Girls are slated to host the #8-#9 play in game on Wednesday night πŸŒ™ but will try and confirm.

Now you know what is on the agenda πŸ“‹ for this evening !
