ACC Softball Championship Game has #1 vs #2 on Duke’s East Campus ! BLUE DEVILS 6, FSU 3…

Durham – Duke needed 10 innings in their first two games to get past Boston College and Clemson while Florida State University needed one inning each day to dispatch Notre Dame and Georgia Tech.

Today the teams compete for Regional seedings and of course the coveted ACC Championship trophy 🏆.

First Pitch took place at 2:35 with the Game Time tempature of 70°.

Florida State took a 3-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning when the first four Seminole batters reached base. Duke changed pitchers and escaped the uprising without further damage.

Duke answered right back with two runs of their own in the bottom of the same inning to pull within 3-2

The teams traded zeros in the fifth inning and now head to the top of the sixth inning…

Duke retires the Noles in order in the top of the sixth but are now down to their final six outs.

Claire Davidson leads off with a base on balls. #3 hitter, Aminah Vega will now try to move her over into scoring position. KO on a 3-2 pitch.

Amiah Burgess up next… full count, walk. Tying run at 2nd base…

Ana Gold is the #5 hitter – quickly 0-2 count… Gold lined a RBI single to tie it up and took second base on the throw!!!

Kelly Torres (C) up with two in scoring position…. Four pitch walk, bases loaded…

SS – Jada Baker – #7 hitter in lineup

Ground Ball to 2B, fielders choice but Catcher couldn’t short hop the throw.

Sarah Goddard (PH) lays down a bunt but Pitcher fields it cleanly and gets force at home plate.

Gisele Tapia – #9 batter laces a 2-run single and Duke leads 6-3.

Back to the top of the order, D’uana Jennings reloads the bases with a swinging but. Davidson back up – looking for more insurance 👀!!

Davidson pops out to Short Stop to end the inning but the Blue Devils plate four runs 🏃‍♂️ and now lead 6-3.

Needing 3 final outs to claim the Crown 👑…

#12 – Amaya Ross – final chance…count is 3-0, Coach visits the mound. Curd issues a Walk.

PH – #1 – Hailey Wacaser – liner back to Curd, the Sophomore regroups for the 1-3 out….

Coach McKenzie checks ✔ in with a Girls Tennis 🎾 update !

Varsity Girls Tennis split the doubleheader with Patrick last night 1-1. Carroll lost the first match 5-4 and won the second match 5-2. The girls played hard through both matches.

Singles:
Seed 1: Emma lost her first match 9-7, won her second match 8-3.


Seed 2: Erika won both matches 8-2 and 8-4.


Seed 3: Alexis won both matches 8-3 and 8-4.


Seed 4: Maiya won her match 8-5 and in the second match Khoe won 8-4.


Seed 5: Tiffany lost her match 8-1, in the second match Maiya lost 8-3.


Seed 6: Hallie lost her match 8-1, in the second match Tiffany lost 8-2.

Doubles:
Seed 1: Emma and Erika won the first doubles 8-4.


Seed 2: Alexis and Maiya lost their match 8-4, second match Alexis and Khloe won doubles 8-3.


Seed 3: Tiffany and Hallie lost the match 8-1.
