Number 5 of 5 on Letter of Intent Day is Alyssa Ervin as she is set to head off to Elon University…

The challenge of writing ✍ about our resident Basketball πŸ€ guru is finding something original about this Amazing young Lady πŸ‘©.

Alyssa Ervin pictured here with both sets of her Grandparents.

The easiest thing to type out is that Ervin is what we call a Generational Talent but I’m willing to add that she is also what we can call a Ten Year Athlete. It won’t become clear just how skilled the 5’11 Hoopster actually is until we are looking back at her time on The Hill.

Both her High School 🏫 Coach (Marc Motley) and her long time AAU Coach Ed Robtison were part of the ceremony as well.

Elon University is about to receive a hard nosed, fearless Basketball πŸ€ player. For those of us that were fortunate enough to get to come along on the ride during the past four years will forever cherish the memories πŸ’™.

Katie Lam and Alyssa Ervin…

Looking back now at the Group of Five its easy to see the common denominater is Commitment. These five Student Athletes are all able to continue their playing days beyond The Hill because of their years of giving their sport of choice a great deal of effort & Love.

Mix in the Teachers that prepared them to attend College, the Coaches that helped in raising their level of play and a support system amongst their Family πŸ‘ͺ and Friends.

Today was a Celebration that should not stop at the folks in the Photos. The number of people that played a roll in their success should be spread around our Community !

Now we have five more Alumni that we can follow on their journey ! There’s no such thing as too many of those….

#4 of 5 to sign their Letter of Intent today – Katie Lam

Pictured here with Katie is her Family πŸ‘ͺ and recently retired CCHS Coach Marc Motley.

Katie Lam is set to take her Basketball πŸ€ game up to Roanoke College in Salem, Virginia this fall. Lam will forever be linked to the greatest run in Carroll County Sports history.

Roanoke College is a Division III school 🏫 that competes in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC). The opportunity to grow both academically and on the Basketball πŸ€ court awaits this young Lady just 71 miles up I – 81.

Carla Flaherty will take the baton from Coach Motley in the roll of guiding this determined young Lady as she goes forward in her playing career.

Congratulations πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ to Katie Lam and her Family πŸ‘ͺ

#3 of 5 Letter of Intent signers today – Lance Burnett

Lance Burnett is having himself quite the Spring while being one of the Senior team leaders on Coach DeHaven’s Baseball ⚾️ team here at Carroll County High School. The next stop for Lance will be the College campus at New River Community College in Dublin, Virginia.

Lance is pictured here with both of his parents and Coach DeHaven as well as is future Coach, Wes Adcock.

The Burnett family will enjoy the shortest of the commutes as the Muskies play just 31 miles away from CCHS.

Coach Adcock will be getting not only a gifted Athlete with a strong pitching arm but a true Student Athlete that will be looking to position himself for years 3 & 4 after his time at NRCC

Here is a photo πŸ“· of Lance alongside his fellow Cavalier Seniors and their Head Coach, taken from last night’s Senior celebration.

His proud Father πŸ‘¨ penned a great description of the journey leading up to today and I encourage people to find that when they can.

Congratulations πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ to Lance Burnett and his entire family πŸ‘ͺ !
