The story of young Dakota Walls just got younger !

Late last night πŸŒ™ while I was writing ✍ the story on the Carroll County Softball game I received a message from Dakota Walls.

For those of you that are not familiar with the name, Walls is Student here in Carroll County that happens to be a race car driver. As we are always looking for ways to assist our youth here at home I became intrigued by someone who was so young already racing cars 🏎.

Linda and I made the trip over to the Franklin County Speedway for his first race 🏁 of the season and do our best to keep up with his efforts on the various Race Tracks.

While we are one of the number of folks that sponsor his car, we still haven’t met in person. Last night he informed me that I was only half right in describing him as a High School 🏫 student.

Dakota Walls is a student, just not in High School. The young man is attending the Middle School 🏫. For me, this only makes the story even better! Having the level of commitment to chase a dream, while still attending Middle School is astonishing in my World 🌎.

Dakota will return to the Oval this Sunday at Franklin County Speedway.

Friday Night πŸŒ™ Lights – Diamond πŸ’Ž play set on three fronts for Cavs – Galax (No JV Softball)

Both of the Varsity teams are set to host the Maroon Tide tonight at 6pm while Head Coach Steve Combs will load up the bus 🚌 and take his red hot JV club over to Galax.

The schedule πŸ“… is clear for the remainder of the weekend so tonight is your last chance for roughly 72 hours to cheer on your favorite Cavaliers team.

[Turns out that both JV and Varsity Baseball ⚾️ will travel up to James River High School 🏫 on Saturday afternoon to play make up games]

Three solid choices and we will do our best to report on all three contests by the end of the night πŸŒ™.

Short handed Boys πŸ‘¦ Tennis 🎾 falls short at Radford Thursday night.

https://www.facebook.com/share/p/Pme2Lz5qBEUtHGR6/?mibextid=oFDknk

Head Coach Greg Talley was playing a match for the first time in his two years without his #1 seed and Son, Jabin Talley. The younger Talley is fighting a sizable blister on his hand βœ‹and hopefully will be able to return to action 🎬 next week.

When a tennis 🎾 team is forced to play without its number one seed it forces each player ranked below to move up one spot. It also breaks up the normal doubles teams.

Here is the recap from Mr. T

Tough loss today at Radford 2-7 . Jabin missed his first match in over 3 years today with the nagging
Injury to his hand and Everybody had to play out of
Order in singles and with different partners in doubles .

Ethan played a 2 hour marathon at no. 1 . Came back from 3-6 to win 9-7 .
Paul lost at no. 2 1-8
Phoenix held on at no. 3 for a 9-7 win
Garrison lost at no. 4 1-8
Louis came close at no. 5 before falling 6-8
Ian playing his first match lost 0-8

Ethan and Paul lost at no. 1 doubles 3-8
Phoenix and Louis lost at no. 2 2-8
Garrison and Ian lost at no. 3 2-8

Proud of the guys for hanging in there and playing
Up from their usual seed . Back to full strength
Hopefully next Wednesday at Pulaski .

Fun Milestone and great video from Radford ! Emma Leath and Ashlyn Newman both March on…

This morning πŸŒ„ pushed the current run πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ of consecutive days of posting at least one positive story to 250 Days.

8+ months non-stop of trying to make people smile πŸ˜ƒ. The previous streak was 140 days.

In the past 48 hours we have witnessed some remarkable efforts from some of our Student Athletes and the Video from last night πŸŒ™ of Carlie Beamer extending our game at Radford was a instant classic moment.

Beamer not only kept the inning alive and the game as well, it allowed Radford to bat two more times which Emma Leath finished up a career best 18 Strikeout performance.

Back on The Hill, Ashlyn Newman found the back of the net for the 66th time, one night after finding it for a career best six times.

Newman (66) is chasing Adrienne Harris (71) for the All-Time scoring mark while Leath (620) is chasing Sydney Nester (694) for the All-Time Strike Out record at the same time. Class chasing Class in both situations

They don’t give out assists in Strike Outs but if they did, Carlie Beamer would have picked up a few last night after extending the game against the Lady Bobcats. Needing three outs to close out the game with the tying run πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ on second base, Leath ended the game by recording #16,#17 & #18.

So if our Emma Leath records #695 before the end of the season, we can all remember the night πŸŒ™ that Carlie Beamer gave her six more outs!

Coach Johnson checks βœ” in after Soccer ⚽️ at Radford Thursday night πŸŒ™

Jv played hard and tied 1-1. They had chances to win but just couldn’t quite get over the hump. Goal was scored by Judah Collins assisted by Sam McGrady

Varsity came out hot and score in the first five minutes in but last nights game vs Galax had us tired and we just couldn’t hang on at the end and lost 3-1. Overall we are very proud of the effort of all the boys and we are excited to rest this weekend to get ready for Monday senior night vs Alleghany.

Remember that all spectators arriving during the Junior Varsity game will enter Tommy Thompson Field at no cost on Monday night.
