l106 total players today; 25 teams (16 High School, 9 Open).

Question readers were Scott Sherrill, Paxton Berrier, and yours truly.

A fun part of this event is the open division that allows anyone to play – coaches, teachers, former players, parents. It’s open to all.

Alan Webb and former MACC standout CJ Richardson partnered with a father/daughter combo to tie for second place in that division, which included at least one national championship player (on a competing team…).

By the end of the day, these guys and gals heard 180 toss up questions and possibly as many as 540 team directed bonus questions. That’s a lot of trivia!

It’s time for us to hang up our propeller hats until next fall. It’s been a great year!

Thanks to coaches Paxton Berrier, Scott Sherrill, Alex McMillian, and Rachelle Rasco (and me…).

Thanks to Alan Webb and Wayne McKnight for jumping on the bus and getting us to our games this season!

Team Awesome Sauce once more..

JV Baseball ⚾️ wins again by another Football type score.

Varsity Baseball ⚾️ followed up with a victory of their own. Still hoping to hear a out it from Coach DeHaven πŸ™

Ask, and you shall receive !!!

We washed cars πŸš— in Galax to raise money πŸ’° for the Band and we danced down at Carowinds..

Up in Ohio our Golden Bears 🐻 closed out conference play with a double header sweep over Ohio Christian University ✝️ and will host post season games next weekend !

In between keeping up with everything I was able to pen πŸ–Š a story about Hix Miller and his family πŸ‘ͺ, watch some Duke & UVA softball and finally the Duke Blue & White football game.

We had singers performing up in Richmond under the guidance of Patricia Lineberry.

Just another Saturday in the Land of Cavaliers and that list didn’t take into consideration the day that Brandi had mapped out for herself, which included trying to get down to Wise.

If anyone out there has photos πŸ“· to add or additions, please let me know.

JV Baseball ⚾️ is as Good as it gets right now ! Blake Reed leads the Charge today !!

The latest team to challenge our JV Baseball ⚾️ team was James River High School 🏫. The latest team looking for the license plate of the dump truck 🚚 is also James River!

Machine like…

Looks like young Mr. Reed went four of four with five RBI’S but he had plenty of company on the offensive side of the game.

Coaches take on the latest W ;

” JV Baseball showed up in all categories today for their 16 to 3 victory Bats were hot and pitching was spot on !”

Congratulations πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ to all !!!

Holly Miller is taking her turn at running πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ the Family πŸ‘ͺ Business.

Holly Miller is making a name for herself these days playing centerfield for veteran Head Coach Rick Nester. The sophomore has speed to burn πŸ”₯ but its not just speed that sets Miller apart, her knowledge of the game and her throwing arm will get the attention of fans both at Cavalier Park and on the road.

Carroll County having a ballplayer named Miller playing centerfield is nothing new for Nester. It was 20 years ago that Holly’s Father Hix Miller, roamed center under the guidance of Nester during his four years on the Varsity Baseball team.

Hix played the position with the same level of dedication and tenacity that his daughter plays with today. At the end of his time on The Hill Miller was able to play the game at the next level. Miller remained a Cavalier, playing ball at UVA-WISE.

Now Miller spends his spare time, which is in limited supply, watching and admiring his daughter as she plays the same position and under the tutelage of Coach Nester.

Miller has nothing but appreciation for his playing days at Carroll County and his time working under Nester, especially as his outfield coach. Miller earned All-State honors his Senior season on The Hill.

” Holly’s competitiveness is also a lot like mine,” said Hix Miller. “She is her own worst critic and expects perfection out of herself like I used to.”

Holly Miller is part of a Lady Cavalier team that has opened the season at 11-0 after last night’s 3-0 victory over visiting Galax. This group has exceeded all expectations up to this point, including the ones of the coaching staff. Nester started the season with seven players who had yet to play a single inning at the top level.

Emma Leath and Katherine Lindamood provide the Senior leadership on a roster filled with very coachable young ladies. Leath’s ability to Strike Out batters on a regular basis puts a little extra pressure on the defense in that one never knows when the ball will be hit in their direction.

Last night a total of two balls made it to the outfield and on both occasions the plays that were made kept the No-hitter in tact. Scouting reports should show by now that the Lady πŸ‘© Cavaliers play near flawlessly in the field, so if you are capable of putting one in play off Leath it doesn’t guarantee you will have a base hit to show for your efforts.

The second generation Miller is just starting her journey and know that her Father is loving his little girl taking over the Family πŸ‘ͺ business. The fact that is doing so for a Coach that he knows and trusts just gives him one less worry on game nights.

Speaking of the Family πŸ‘ͺ business, Hix is currently coaching his Son, Daniel in Dixie Youth baseball. Daniel is in his freshman year at CCHS.

How bright is the future of both Holly Miller and the rest of the Sophomore class playing softball this season ?

It might be time to see about getting them some sun glasses πŸ•Ά!!! It’s safe to say that none of the players are old enough to get that reference but maybe some of the parents and grandparents might…….
