Win number 2 for the Lady Cavaliers!!!!

Carroll 6
Galax 0

Big night for the Lady Cavaliers and one Ashlyn Newman!!!!

Scoring and assists for the night started off with Harley Riggins making a very nice drop back pass to Karmen Smith who then launched a very nice short from 30+ yards out to put the Cavs up 1-0. The 2nd goal came about 10 mins later when a cavaliers was pushed down about 30 yards from goal. Karmen added to her goal total with a great direct kick that beat the keeper from Galax to make it 2-0. About 10 mins left in the first half history was made when Newman received a corner kick from Harris for a 3-0 lead. This goal marked just the 2nd player to ever get to the 50 goal mark. At the half it was 3-0 Carroll. 2nd half start like the 1st half ended with Harris sending a pass to Newman for her 2nd goal. The 5th goal was Harris turn to put one on the board and that assist came from Smith. 6th and final goal was for Newman to complete a hat trick for her historic night!!!!

The game ball goes to none other than Ashlyn Newman for her historic night. Great job Lady Cavs and next up is a road trip to Pulaski!!!!

A few words from our coach Ben Tickle:

Our defense continues to improve! I can’t say enough about Alexis Sheffey at goal with a second shut out. Karmen Smith, Sarah Alderman, Laurel Sutphin, and Harleigh Riggins are really playing solid on the defensive side.

Actually, it was Karmen that came up and sent two long balls for the first two scores of the game. Galax had parked the bus trying to keep our offense at bay.

Karmen took advantage and put two long balls in the back of the net. Callie Harris also added a goal. However, tonight was Ashlyn Newman’s night. Ashlyn scored her 50th career goal. Then, she scored 51 and 52 for good measure. I am continuously amazed by this team’s love and support for each other. The coaches are super proud of them.
