Lance Burnett strung together a 15 Strike out, 2-hitter on a night that Carroll County Diamond πŸ’Ž squads combined to sweep Galax 43-0

Those were the words that Head Coach Kevin DeHaven used to describe his teams 10-0 mercy rule victory at Galax Wednesday night πŸŒ™!

Not sure just what they are feeding young Lance for breakfast at the Burnett house but let’s hope that have a good supply of it!

Congratulations to Coach DeHaven and his team for collecting yet another “W” !

Carroll County Softball flirts with perfection in 12-0 victory over Galax

Galax – Head Coach Rick Nester was all smiles after Holly Miller chased down the fly ball at ended the Non-District 12-0 victory over the home standing Maroon Tide Wednesday afternoon.

” We had dominant pitching, flawless defense and a bunch of timely hitting,” the veteran Coach said. ” It’s not very often that you receive all three in one game.”

Emma Leath (4-0) allowed a flair single to the leadoff hitter and that was both the first and last hit Galax would have. The Senior collected 14 strike outs and her defense shined behind her the seven times that Galax out the ball in the field of play.

Addie Greene made a diving grap on a shot to short stop in the second inning after the Lady Cavaliers doubled up Galax in the bottom of the first on a similar line drive.

The only other base runner came in the bottom of the fifth when a dropped third strike allowed a second player to reach. Leath would face 22 batters, just one over the minimum.

Offensively, there were a number of players that stepped up for CCHS. The team plated a minimum of two runs in five of the seven innings, scoring from eight of the nine spots in the lineup.

Greene was productive from the leadoff spot, reaching base three times on two base hits and a walk, scoring one run and collecting one RBI.

Katherine Lindamood reached based four times, scored twice and drove one run in while collecting two base hits.

Natalie Burress caught Leath’s gem and collected four base hits before hitting into a fielder’s choice in her fifth and final at bat. Isabella Norman joined Burress and Lindamood on the list of players that touched home plate two times.

Nester brought up some of the Junior Varsity team members and everyone took their turn contributing to the offensive showcase.

One thing worth noting is that Carroll County drew a larger crowd then the home team, despite the chili wind conditions.

The Junior Varsity team had the day off due to the fact that Galax doesn’t field a JV squad. They are slated to host Tazewell High School in a double header at Cavalier Park.

Both teams are set to face Bassett High School on Friday, Varsity on the road and JV at home.

This is what will head to Allen, then a photo πŸ“· and Box Score will get added to it.

Lady πŸ‘© Cavaliers are well supported this afternoon in Galax

The families of are 12 Varsity Softball players are out in full force today in a windy Mountain β›° View Park.

Game started right on time and Carroll County leads 5-0 in the top of the fourth inning. The Lady πŸ‘© Cavaliers are facing Miss Molly Plant in the circle, after Plant spent part of the travel season pitching for Lady Swat.
