The 50 Goal Club in the history of Carroll County High School Soccer ⚽️ doubled in size Tuesday night when Ashlyn Newman joined Adrienne Harris in one of the most exclusive clubs in the History of the High School.
When you consider the lost time due to an injury and time spent in the Goalie position during her time in the program, it makes you appreciate the achievement even more.

The Lady 👩 Cavaliers are now 2-0 on the season, having outscored their opponents 9-0. Newman has netted five of the nine so there’s no telling if she has time to chase down the total of 71 that Harris netted or not, but it should be a fun story to follow along.
Karmen Smith netted two goals to start the attack and Callie Harris netted one in addition to the Newman Hat 👒 Trick.
Keeper Alexis Sheffey and the back line defense combined for the second straight shut out.

After calling the game for Coach Tickle I hung around long enough to meet with Mr & Mrs Newman for the first time. Before this year I had heard stories about their daughter playing soccer ⚽️ but because they normally play opposite softball I had never seen her play in person, only via the network.
I felt that I did her 50th goal justice with the brief ceremony verbage and I felt good about #51.
At that point the PA guy in me started to give way to the writer in me. I started making a list of comparable Student Athletes at our School to this amazing 👏 young Lady 👩.
My list included Jabin Talley placing a tennis 🎾 ball, Alyssa Ervin controlling a basketball game or our Emma Leath spinning a softball.
As I was trying to find a way to compare this young Ladies skill set to our readers to appreciate just how talented she is. Mid thought, Newman snuck through the defense and scored her third goal of the night.
I couldn’t switch back fast enough to clear my thoughts and I looked down at my list and quickly said Alyssa Newman netted the goal. It might have been even more awkward if I had said Jabin Newman scored the goal??
Either way, I stayed around to apologize to her parents personally for my oops. They were both very kind about it and for that I’m truly grateful 🙏.
Whether its the Girls Softball team, the Girls Soccer team or the Girls Track team, they are all hoping that their classmates and friends will find time to stop by and cheer them on.
It’s Spring time and we have 11 teams competing and they could all use a little Love 💕 and support. I am not sure how many more times my path will cross with Ben Tickle and Shana Parnell the rest of this Spring but know that when it does, I will give them my best effort because they deserve it!
I will also limit the number of times I create cross-over names of Elite Student Athletes.
