Spending an Afternoon with Coach Anthony Barnes and his extended Family πŸ‘ͺ

Head Coach Anthony Barnes and Mr. Easter just before the Pre-meal Prayer.

Barnes has a gracious Host from start to finish today when he gathered his staff, his players and their families. Only Noah Manning was missing from the group today at the annual gathering held at the First United Methodist Church β›ͺ of Hillsville.

We will start out with the 10 family πŸ‘ͺ photos πŸ“· from within the family..

Special Thank You to Paula Richardson for helping me with my count of the Family photos. I wanted to make sure that we have one for every group and it was Paula that reminded me that the Smoot photo πŸ“· counts as two !

The amount of affection that Barnes has for the members of his program was obvious to everyone inside of the Church β›ͺ. The next set of photos πŸ“· are of the program…

Appreciation was shown to a number of the behind the scenes contributing crew . Retiring Athletic Director Darrin Mathews was reckoned for his decades of service as was Russell Smoot (Video), Doug Reitzel ( score book) and he even took the time to acknowledge the efforts of us here at OneofUs.Care!

Barnes did a tremendous job in making sure that all five members of his coaching staff had an opportunity to participate in the presentation process. Watching the five coaches pass the ball around was reminiscent of how the Cavaliers looked on the floor this season.

Barnes also took time to Thank Kris Richardson for his years of service as his lead assistant. This portion included six of the long time teammates getting to tell their favorite Richardson memory.

The meal was prepared and served by the wonderful folks at the Church. Their care and grace was once again overwhelming !

Coach passed out the All-District and All-Region awards as well as the team awards.

.

Award winners πŸ† included :

Ethan Richardson – Cavalier Award

Isaiah Easter – Hustle Award

Davis Reitzel – Offensive P. O.Y

Brayden Smoot – Defensive P. O. Y

Cody Reece – Most Improved

Such a wonderful πŸ‘ way to spend a Sunday afternoon . Family , Friends and Basketball πŸ€!

Thanks Coach Barnes πŸ™

Banquet season is upon us as there is six events on the horizon over the next six weeks. It starts today with Mr. Anthony Barnes and Company.

We have never been in a situation before where we had six different events on the calender within a six week period. Is this what a social calender looks and feels like ?

Five banquets and one meeting, spread across two States and five cities and that stretch begins today. Coach Anthony Barnes is holding his Awards Banquet for his Basketball πŸ€ program at the First United Methodist Church β›ͺ in Hillsville.

What we are trying to accomplish through the Carroll County Sports Report, which is just a part of our bigger vision, simply isn’t for everyone. The hard part is trying to figure out who wants to take advantage of a 100% positive platform that allows a Coach unlimited space to support their program.

Our material is designed to be feel good and each post is designed to be consumed in two minutes or less. We are trying to celebrate our Youth without making people feel like they are reading πŸ“š a novel.

Even as I am typing this up I am receiving updates from Shannon Dalton about a Swimming πŸŠβ€β™‚οΈ event taking place down in Greensboro. We will exchange messages throughout the day as we did yesterday.

Why would I give up part of the Sunday to create a day long post πŸ“« for an off-season Swim πŸŠβ€β™‚οΈ meet ? Because I have someone that Cares ❀ enough to send me day long updates !

Getting back to the Banquet List :

3/17 – Anthony Barnes, Hillsville

3/23 – OneofUs.Care, Laurel Fork

3/27 – Allen Worrell

4/9 – School 🏫 Board Meeting, Hillsville

4/11 – Duke University, Durham

4/28 – VHSL – HOF – Hooville

What do these six dates have in common ? They are all something that means a great deal to someone and I feel privileged to try and shine equal light on the efforts of each person or group.

Anthony Barnes is a poster child for someone who took the time to see the opportunity that was presented to him to have unlimited access for getting his word out. Barnes has a passion for his Coaches and players that is nothing short of inspiring πŸ‘.

My 3 minute window is almost over so to Shannon Dalton – I hope you get electricity and to Anthony Barnes- see you this afternoon !

Shannon Dalton’s adventures : Day 2 ! Running πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ Blog

Day two at the pool and the power is out.

We are waiting to see what they can do. Duke Energy says this corner of Greensboro is out until at least 11 am

Please check back throughout the day as we will be adding more as the story develops…

We have electricity !!!

Day three prelims at Tarheel States are in the books after a nice delay this morning when a car took on a power pole, leaving the Greensboro Coliseum Complex in the dark.

Today from the Mt Airy club, we had Briar Sessions (Galax), Bradley and Will Dalton (Carroll), Nick Garcia (Mt Airy), and Colby Goins (East Surry).

Shiny new personal best times for everyone today.

If you’re new to swimming, it comes in three levels: 1. Summer Swim – A family friendly intro to swimming open to all kids up to age 18.

Please be watching the Carroll Wellness Center FB page for announcements about joining summer swim soon.

We would love to have your kids on our Tiger Shark Team!

Level 2 ‐ High School Swim. Open to middle and high school swimmers – even if you don’t know how to swim. Coach Joi Ogle welcomes anyone willing to work and learn!

And swim makes an awesome off season sport for high school athletes. Note how many baseball players and runners double as swimmers (… basketball players, too.)

Level 3 – USA Swim year round teams. This is an option for all ages for people who have decided swimming is their main sport.

USA Swim covers everything from today’s meet in Greensboro all the way up to the Olympic trials.

The local options for USA Swim are H2Okies in Christiansburg and Star Aquatics. Star is based in Greensboro and has a satellite program in Mt Airy.

There’s also a new team in Wythe and some options toward Bristol and WVA, but most of your local swimmers come from Star and Hokie Swim.

If your child knows they love to swim and you want to know more about Star, give me a shout. We’d love to have you there, too!

The nice thing about swimming is you can do all three types of teams at the same time and for families, swimming is all ages plus guys and girls in the same place on the same day. It’s a great sport to get your whole family involved in!

We would love to have new swimmers! If you have questions, the CWC would be a great place to start. Summer is coming and you know you’d love to spend it at the pool!

Ladies & Gentlemen, Mrs. Shannon Dalton πŸ‘

Saturday was wire to wire but we supported some folks and made a new friend !!

This was the view from the back deck this morning πŸŒ„ before we headed out to Tazewell, Beckley, Christiansburg and finally back to Laurel Fork.

Two beautiful photos πŸ“· from a very kind young Lady πŸ‘© whose daughter plays on our Softball team ❀.

We created a fun little post πŸ“« about our time in Tazewell with the Varsity Softball team which you will find a couple of stories back.

The next stop was Beckley, West Virginia for our Golden Bears 🐻 Baseball ⚾️ doubleheader.

Beautiful back drop to a beautiful Stadium 🏟. Sadly it wasn’t our day as the Indiana University – Kokomo Cougars swept the games, 7-5 & 7-2.

Next stop was Christiansburg High School 🏫 fir the FCA All-Star Game which featured both Katie Lam and Alyssa Ervin.

Great deal of fun to watch them together one more time !

Along the way we teamed up with a quick hit Post πŸ“« concerning Coach West Long and a day long adventure with Shannon Dalton and Company.

Roughly14 hours start to finish but days don’t feel as long when you feel like you accomplished something !

Saturday night has become Sunday morning πŸŒ„ so its probably a good time to stop….
