Shannon Dalton is at it again….Crazy Days and and Crazy Nights 🌙. The things we do to support our Youth (Running Blog)

Today’s story is that I wanted and needed to be in three places at once. Scholastic Bowl is playing today at Gate City in a unique “solo” tournament. All the questions are buzzer questions and everyone is a one man team.

We dispatched four brave players to this event with coach Paxton Berrier.

Results should start coming in soon from the morning rounds.

We will be adding to this until Shannon Dalton signs off !

Our Rotary District Conference is today at the Inn at Virginia Tech. This year the Interact youth events are being organized by CCHS alum Kayla Payne who has risen through the Rotary ranks to take the helm of Interact at the district level.

Kayla is a librarian in Staunton, so this year’s service project is to provide books to pre-k students throughout Rotary District 7570.

Mark Harmon, our Lions Leo sponsor, is on the scene there with nine outstanding student leaders.

Which leaves me… in Greensboro pool side. Bradley and Will Dalton are swimming this weekend at Tarheel States hosted by Star Aquatics. They are here with Galax swimmers Briar Sessions, Addison Sheets, Sophia Chavez, Vivian Fant, and Thomas Fant.

I’m working the meet, so no action shots, but Will takes the prize for time drop today in 100 Fly.Briar is headed back tonight for finals.

He has had an amazing short course season with an appearance at NC age group champs and three qualifying times for EESZ (which is amazing for those not up on swim championships).

Looking forward to some great swims from him tonight!

Here’s an update from Coach Berrier:Things are good overall! Connor Beasley got a really bad draw, but has done well in it.

We’re waiting on the latest results. Connor has buzzed out in 3 out of 4, buzzing out first in 2 of those 3.

Jake Talbert got 60 points in one round, and Wesleigh Sacco got 50 points in one.

They’ve done really well!Buzzing out is a good thing, FYI. It means you got the max points and they made you stop buzzing in for the rest of the round.

Connor Beasley advanced from round one in the finals to the semi-finals. He finished fifth in semi-finals and ninth overall for the tournament.

Beasley was playing in the varsity division. Jake Talbert is playing now in the finals of the JV division.

Mr. Harmon and crew are on the way home from Blacksburg with a stack of books on hand for some lucky students in Carroll.

He’s just off a great night on the soccer field with two assists against Pulaski.

The MACC crew will finish their season on April 20 with a “trash” tournament (pop culture) at Virginia High.

Alan Webb is looking for three more players to fill out an adult team for the event. If anyone is interested in playing, let me know!

It was very enjoyable to have spent the day trying to support three groups in three cities on the same day as Mrs. Dalton.

We just made it back home 🏡 and we hope the Daltons have as well !

Editors Note 📝

Only thing missing was that Jacob Talbert finished 7th in his division.

. Congrats 👏 to Jacob Talbert !!
