Carroll County was locked up in a pitchers duel with the visiting Pulaski County Cougars are were in danger of falling 2-1 before plating both the game tying and game winning runs in the bottom of the seventh inning.

We received updates from Glenn Burnett and a recap from Coach Kevin DeHaven. The photos πŸ“· were pre- game when I stopped by before the Girls πŸ‘§ Soccer game.

From Coach DeHaven :

We walked it off in bottom
Of 7th.

Mason Crockett led off with a walk, stole second, score on Britt Berrier’s double.

Britt then scored Maddox Lyons single. πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰. Won 3-2.

Ben Phillips pitches 5 inning and Owen Ward picked up the win in relief pitching two strong innings. GREAT TEAM WIN!

Mr. Burnett was feeding me live updates throughout the evening and here’s his look at the terrific ending.

Through the efforts of the notes πŸ“ through texts and messenger we were able to give updates at the Soccer ⚽️ stadium throughout the night πŸŒ™, trying to promote all things Carroll County.

With the Tennis 🎾 matches washed out, we went 6-1 on the night against the Cougars !

Congratulations πŸ‘ to Coach DeHaven and thank you to Glenn !

Carroll County Girls πŸ‘§ Soccer ⚽️ rolls to a 3-0 victory over Pulaski County on opening night πŸŒ™

Opening Night for the Lady Cavalier Soccer Team vs Pulaski begins with 67% of the Cavaliers stepping out on the field for their first ever soccer game other than maybe a rec game. Only 7 players on the Cavalier roster had ever laced it up for the high school team and only 4 of them have ever played travel ball!!! The Cavaliers started very strong and this young team was put on the board after Ashlyn Newman placed a very nice pass on the ground and found Callie Harris wide open in the middle for the first goal of the season!!!! 2nd goal of the night came from Senior Captain Ashlyn Newman after a great clear from Karmen Smith up to Harris and then the ball was sent to Newman where she beat four or five defenders with some great dribbling to make it 2-0. After a few chances from both sides the score remained at 2-0 at halftime.

2nd half started with some great chances from Pulaski but Alexis Sheffey and crew kept the cougar off the board. The cavaliers would miss a few chances but the timing will get better as the season goes on!!! Finally with about 13 mins left Harris found Newman for her 2nd goal of the night!!! The score would end up 3-0 in the end.

Game balls tonight could easily go to the ones that helped with scoring but tonight we are going to stick with the defense. Our game balls go to Alexis Sheffey and Breanna Shumate!!!! Great job ladies next up is Galax on Tuesday!!!!!!

The following is from Coach Tickle:

I thought we played really well defensively. Alexis Sheffey was tough at goal. I thought our fullbacks, Bre Shumate and Laurel Sutphin came up to make some big stops. In the middle, center backs Karmen Smith and Sarah Alderman just continue to shine. I also thought Harleigh Riggins was tough at the six on their big legs. She did a great job of making them move side to side. We also played faster tonight, with some quick transitions to get our offense going. We missed a few shots, but I know that will come. One more thing, I love this team! I love the way they support each other. Our bench is so involved and in the game. They are just a really fun group to coach.

Thank You Coach Tickle and Marion Harris !
