Isaiah Easter played a next level game for Head Coach Anthony Barnes last night in the teams 90-52 Three Rivers District contest with Floyd County. Easter wasn’t in the starting line up on Senior Night but once he entered the contest it was the beginning of the end for the visitors chances.
Easter created a serious match up problem and was masterful in exploting it immediately. The sophomore dropped in nine first quarter points and added seven more before the break to head into the lockeroom with 16 points.
” The Cavalier train was full steam ahead tonight, the very best we have ever looked for 32 min againt a tough , well coached Floyd group,” said Coach Barnes. ” We had a great practice Monday and challenged them to come out and not let up and let our defensive play, make our offense into transition and we did just that.”
Easter scored two quick baskets in the third quarter to take his total to 20 and his teammates were ready to take turns at the engineer of the Train.
Davis Reitzel was next up with 18 points in a game where the team connected on a ridiculous 75% of their shots from the field. The juggernaut that was posted 29 points in the second quarter alone. Ethan Richardson took lead during the third quarter, scoringβnine of his 14 points over that eight minutes. Cody Reece broke the 10 point barrier once again, finishing up with 11 points. It was a night where everything the Cavaliers tried was working and their Coach was enjoying the moment.
” This was a Huge District win, huge win on senior night in a packed house of Cavalier Nation, so very thankful for student turnout and fans supporting the guys,” Barnes added. “We played unselfish, we looked for next pass and open guy. Big night for sophomore Isiah Easter, attacking , getting to the rim and finishing. Four guys in double figures, with big time game from Reitzel 18, Richardson 14, and Reece with 11. Nine guys in the box score, a night to remember for years to come. Back too work Thursday with our foot on gas !”
βCarroll County controls their own destiny in the race to claim the regular season championship after Alleghany had a setback at the hands of Radford last week. One step at a time for the Cavaliers but there’s a might big carrot π₯ on a stick in front of them. The District will hosting an abbreviated post season event where #1 will host #2 ahead of Region play.
The JV Boys raced out to a comfortable lead in the opener and held on to defeat the Buffaloes 60-55. Dane Leonard poured in 23 points to lead a very balanced attack. Colton Gravely added 13 points and Blake Reed (10 points) gave Head Coach Jason Stockner a trio of double figure scorers. Hayden Jackson added eight and Trace Reavis rounded out the scoring with six points.
Both teams will be off on Wednesday before the Junior Varsity heads to Patrick County on Thursday night and the Varsity squad will welcome the Cougars to The Hill on Friday night.

End of the story for Allen Worrell but there’s a note π worth adding

The reason there is confusion on the Boys π¦ record is that MaxPreps has given them credit ( pictured above) for a victory over Honaker that belongs to our Varsity Girls. The Boys now sit at 17-1 versus the 18-1 shown on the site.
