We are closing in on the Bus departure time for when our Wrestling team will head out to the District tournament up at James River High School π«.
βI have passed on my well wishes to Coach this morning π and when he gets on the road he will send back a little message about the day ahead. Just wanted to do more than copy and paste his message today, I wanted to create a post π« around it and will also add to it is the day plays itself out.
βI added Mr. Tickle to this one because of his passion for the group as well. Not asking anyone to drive up to James River today, not asking folks to even read the coverage. Just want people to know that they’re our Wrestling team and today they will be Wrestling for our Community !
Go Cavs !
“Heading to the district tournament at James River, the athletes are on weight and starting to get in the zone! This is the Time to apply the lessons from the last few months in order to reach the podium! “Always Forward, Never Outworked!”
From the very first time I met Ron Cochran I knew that he was a special Human Being. Whether he knows you or not when you walk into his Omega Church and Office Supply he’s going to greet you with a smile.
If he does know you he will add a quick witted line or two. Everything we create in our efforts comes to life and the hands of Nancy’s Husband. How cool do you have to be to get two nicknames ? Yes, Ron is just that cool π.
Every town needs more people like Ron. Like myself, he is trying to pursue the Greater Good in life. We had to put him to work once again as he is currently designing the tickets π for the Banquet as we try to create something that will be a keepsake for all that attend.
The list of projects that Ron has been a part of with me over the past couple of years has grown quite lengthy. Ron sponsored our Softball T-Shirt π contest and just recently helped find a home for 50 copies of our Basketball π Book.
Ron created all of the material for our Banquet last year and if someone is in need of something and they approach us we tell them it has to go thru Ron’s shop.
To try to pull off things at the pace that I do there has to be a small group of people that you can count on to be there and Ron Cochran is certainly OneofUs.
Proud to know him and by extension his family πͺ, including his Favorite Son-in-Law that for a while didn’t have a first name.
Thanks for everything you do Ron and we will see you at Table #3.
Christopher Noah Carter – we are so Proud of You !
Noah is pictured here with his Father, Grandmother and Sisters at our Banquet last year. Sometimes so much life happens in a day that I miss things but the amount of pride in my Sons voice reminded me of why we do what we do !
Thank You on behalf of myself and our Friends, Kris and Paula, for the generousity of everyone who was able to contribute.
βThank You the two folks that started the process..
βThank You to Mama Smoot and Greg Talley (+ anyone else) for capturing and sharing β€ the moment.
βThank You to Ethan Richardson for all that you bring to our Community. Basketball π, Tennis πΎ, Swimming πββοΈ and the list goes on. I feel that what you do best is set an Example for others !
βAs I search to spot, create or stumble across Feel Good Moments this one is right up there !
Caitlin Canada scored 26 points for James River High School, leading the Knights to a 47-34 Three Rivers District victory over a depleted Carroll County squad Monday night. Head Coach Marc Motley was missing five of his twelve players, including two of his starters (Alyssa Ervin and Madison Lyons) but the group that was healthy enough to play made their Coach proud.
” Our effort tonight was tremendous,” Motley said. ” We played really, really hard from start to finish.”
βThe game began with the Knights scoring five quick points before Sarah Alderman settled the team down with back 2 back baskets. Alderman had been away from the team for the past week while trying to recover from the flu. The team settled down enough to only trail 10-9 at the end of the first quarter.
βCanada warmed up in the second quarter as James River looked to speed up the game on every possession. Katie Lam drilled a pair of 3-pointers during the second quarter to account for six of her nine points, leaving the Cavaliers down 25-17 at halftime.
βJames River pushed its lead out to 38-19 after an 8-0 run but CCHS with consecutive 3-pointers from Madison Coleman and Callie Harris. Harris shined down the stretch, finishing the night with a team high 10 points. The team rallied around her play and finished up on a 15-9 spurt to leave the score at 47-34. Corrie Delp (6 points) closed out strong as well , having plenty of fuel left in the tank.
” We were just not able to make enough shots tonight to win,” added Motley. ” But give James River credit, the way they played tonight had a great deal to do with that. They’re a very good basketball team.”
The next 24-36 hours will prove to very interesting for Carroll County as the ones that are out fight to get healthy and the group that was able to play stay that way. The team is scheduled to play on The Hill Wednesday night, followed up by games at home on Friday and in Salem on Saturday.
Looking for one final thought from Motley before everyone started the long drive back home and Coach summed it up well.
” We played with a great deal of Heart tonight.”
βThe team played well enough to get by a number of teams on their schedule but they just couldn’t find a match up to slow down the lanky Canada.
The Junior Varsity Girls played a picture perfect opening quarter which ended with a 12-0 lead. Their defensive effort from start to finish produced a 46-13 victory. Kayla Young led the offense with 15 points and was joined in double figures by Raylee Goins (10 points). CC Mitchell played a strong fourth quarter again, finishing up with eight points.
That concludes the game story for the Carroll News.
βOn a personal note π I want to add that I’m very proud of the effort put out by a group of young ladies that were dealt an unwinnable hand. If you see any of them around School today make sure to offer up some encouragement. That’s assuming that they’re healthy enough to make it to school π«.
