Shannon Dalton checks in with news from the Pool, ahead of a day that has her playing divide βž— and conquer on Saturday (Bristol and Bassett )

Thank You Ma’am !

Saturday has the Swimmers πŸŠβ€β™‚οΈ down near the Tennessee / Virginia Border while the Academic event is at Bassett High School 🏫. Not only does this make things tough on her but the teams share a number of players.

Best of Luck to both squads tomorrow and safe travels !

Our Latest Edition of Fake News, this one staring Mr. Paul Marshall

Paul, like myself is relatively new to the area by Carroll County standards. We have spoken a few times over the past two years and he is a pleasant young man πŸ‘¨.

While I try to support everyone to the best of my ability there are a few that I’m rooting extra hard for. Cody Reece is one of those which is why I made a Big Deal out of his game at Galax last night. I even took the time to ask him tonight if he received any extra Love πŸ’˜ from his friends at school 🏫?

He said that Yes, he actually did !

Before I get to the Fake part of the story I need to add that Reece made it two straight double digit games with 10 more points tonight.

Here’s the fun part or the fake part if you will…..

Paul Marshall watches Cody Reece reach double figures last night and today he is waiting in Coaches office.

” Coach, why won’t you let me play the way you let Cody play ? It’s not fair”

Of course none of that happened but this did. Marshall played with a level of confidence tonight that I had never seen from him. The young man πŸ‘¨ netted 11 points and made smart choices all night ! When I asked him afterwards if he heard πŸ‘‚ me cheering for him ( Trenton Miller can confirm that I was losing my mind out of excitement for this young man). He smiled and said ” I heard alot of people cheering for me tonight”.

Congratulations πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ Sir on joining the double figures Club !

Story #3 of 7 – JV Boys come out full tilt and pitch a First Quarter shutout on their way to a 43-29 victory

By Homer McHomerson

The Hill – Carroll County Junior Varsity was playing their third game in three nights so the question heading into the James River game had to be about how much fuel was left in the tank ?

Colton Gravely( 15 points) and friends answered that question quickly as the Cavaliers scored the games first 15 points and coasted to a 43-29 Three Rivers District victory over visiting James River.

Give credit to the Knights as they tried to dig their way out of the hole against the Cavaliers second team but never pulled closer than 35-23.

Coach Jason Stockner loved the fact that his team hit the ground running πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ.

FROM COACH STOCKNER :

” I’m very proud of how hard the guys played from the tip tonight. It was the third game in three days and to come out and play with the energy they played with tonight is very satisfying as a coach. Also the bench played very well. Didn’t get many shots to fall in the first half but that didn’t affect their effort on the defensive end. Then in the second half, they made some shots and we put the game away a lot more comfortable than the previous game.”

Hayden Jackson scored four the 15 first quarter points to accompany the five from Gravely and finished up with 8 points on the night. Everyone dressed for the game spent quality time on the floor and eight of them dented the score book.

Chanson Rakes dropped in a pair of 3-pointers to account for his six points. Dane Leonard contributed five points.

Assistant Coach Ryan Largen shared his thoughts on the teams effort.

Hey Jerry,
I wanted to reach out to say that I was proud of our guys tonight. They started out with good energy. We took care of the basketball offensively and got stops defensively that got us off to a great start. I thought we played more of how we are capable of playing! We were able to get all of our guys minutes on the floor tonight and finish a hard stretch of 3 games in 3 nights, which isn’t an easy task. I am proud of our guys!

We limited our turnovers and looked to share the ball well tonight also!
