Day: January 21, 2024
Still more sightings and appreciation for those who helped the Day be everything it could be…

The photo 📷 above shows our Girls 👧 Basketball 🏀 Coach jumping in to help distribute the Medals 🏅

It was a treat for me to get to meet our Sheriff, Mr. Kevin Kemp and then introduce him before he did a wonderful rendition of our National Anthem!
Misty was at the scorers table keeping the score book 📖 along with Kevin’s friend and myself. Such a pleasant person to sit with.
Mrs. Motley was there and working with a camera 📷 from start to finish.
There were a number of folks that were helping out from long before the crowd arrived and well after the fact.
Vickey is so proud 👏 of our Community and the way they support her efforts and I welcome 🙏 any more names that we can acknowledge!
Another moment to remember…
When we moved to Laurel Fork a few years ago I made it a point to not research who’s who because its easier to treat everyone as equal. Today I had a couple of fun moments in regards to this strategy.
When it was time to introduce the three volunteers 🙋♀️, my favorite word, I was able to offer something for Alyssa Ervin and Ron Cochran because I have spent time with both but for the gentleman 🕴️on the far right I was only able to read his name. Later when I reached out to him about it I got the feeling that he welcomed the lack of acknowledgement. Kind man 👨 that is obviously a Big Part of our Community….

Hey Jerry the ref on the right is Mark Quesenberry. His dad Ron was our varsity coach at Galax when I was there . He played for his dad at Galax and averaged around 30 a game . He was principal at Carroll County Middle School the went to Galax
And came back to Carroll as HR Director. Ron had two of the most prolific scorers in Galax and Carroll County history on either side of him .
Thank You Mr. T for the breakdown !
The second half of the story is right up there with the one about finding out who Addie Greene’s Grandmother 👵was. For me she was the nice lady 👩 that laughed at my jokes while keeping the JV Softball score book 📖. Turns out she has a kind of important job in our Community.
Back to today, I had a contact in my cellphone 📱 that just says Kevin’s (DeHaven) friend. What I found out today was the incredibly kind lady with that title is actually the subject of this work of art.

Dr. Samantha Reed is an impressive Lady which means Kevin has some impressive friends !
THERE WAS MORE THAN HOOPS, THERE WAS DANCING
Then there was the Photos 📷 and Videos from Lin !

The 3 videos will come separately…
