Carroll County makes it a Perfect 10 with a first-time road victory at Glenvar under Coach Barnes, 80-61

Glenvar – The Coaching tandem of Anthony Barnes and Kris Richardson continue to travel down roads never taken together and the latest one was a 80-61 road victory over Three Rivers District foe Glenvar. The added bonus this time was Carroll County (10-0,2-0) was forced the concentrate in the fourth quarter for the first time this season.

Leading 58-46 heading into the final frame, the Cavaliers held the Highlanders at bay behind another balanced scoring attack. Coach Barnes wasn’t ready to call the victory a beautiful game but his team was able to complete the back to back victories over tough District competition.

“We definitely looked tired from having played so hard, we had some defensive lapses where we lost the shooter,” said Barnes. “We struggled in our offense sets with missed opportunities on open guy off screens, thought we turned up our defensive effort up in the 3rd quarter.”

Davis Reitzel led CCHS with 26 points while Bryce Smoot was close behind with 20 points. As has been the case all season, these Cavaliers score from all five spots on the floor

” Bryce knocked down some shots, our defensive effort got better, Brayden Smoot had alot to do defensively getting us up in transition, ” added Barnes. ” We had a balanced scoring game, after Davis and Bryce we had three guys with 8 each in (Ethan) Richardson, Brayden and Cody Reece.”

It is easier to think about getting tested for the first time when you climb back on the bus with a first of its kind “W”. Though its debatable how tested your team was in a 19 point victory ?

” Not the prettiest if games but in High school basketball but a win is a win in back to back games against well rounded teams,” noted Barnes. ” Proud of the guys digging in and holding the line.”

Carroll County will have a short time to enjoy their latest victory as they will head over to Floyd County on Friday to play in their Annual One Day event.
