Quite the Saturday about to take place up here, back home 🏡 and places in between ! A day long Post 📫

Some days there’s two or three places one might want to be but today the number is seven or eight!

In no particular order :

Boys 👦 Basketball 🏀 will travel down to Abingdon for scrimmages with both the home team and Chilhowie. While the team has had a number of scrimmages before today this one will be with the full compliment of players. Both JV & Varsity (Pics from Greg Talley)

#2 – The Twin County Cobras return to action 🎬 after a 2-1 day down in Kingsport last Saturday.

The Cobras went 1-2 on the day down in Mt. Airy but ended the day on a high note by winning the final game.

#3 – A ceremony will take place over at the Pavillion we built at Page County High School 🏫 at 10:00

#4 – Our 2022 Person of the Year, Coach Jeff Burner is holding practice at his nearby Mountain ⛰ View High School at 8:30 am

#5 – 4:30 pm at the Salem Civic Center is when our neighbors from Riner are set to take the Volleyball 🏐 court in pursuit of a 5th consecutive Class 1 State Championship. There are two other Finals matches being played before the Auburn tilt..

Appomattox County storms back from 2-0 to win the Class 2 State Championship!

Congratulations 👏👏👏 to the Auburn Eagles as they captured an AMAZING fifth straight State Championship and to our Region 3D mates Hidden Valley as they captured the Class 3 crown 👑 !

#6 – ESPN GameDay is set to get underway at James Madison University from 9am until Noon with the Dukes hosting Application State at 2pm.

#7 – Duke plays its 11th Football 🏈 game of the season at Scott Stadium 🏟. On the Grounds at the University of Virginia at 3pm

#8 – Four of our Nine Grandkids will be around today! Not sure if it qualifies as a Sporting event but it warms the Heart !

Herbstreet went from James Madison University at Game Day to Corvallis, Oregon to call the University of Washington @ Oregon State Beavers….

Laurel Fork’s own Ethan Richardson captures the Inter squad 3-Point Competition Friday Night 🌙

Marion reports that in between the scrimmages the two teams squared off in a 3-point Contest with Ethan Richardson and Alyssa Ervin advancing to the Finals where Richardson edged out Ervin for the bragging rights on the night 🌙,.

Each player connected 11 times to advance before Paul’s Grandson did him proud !
