Carroll County Wrestling

Coaching Philosophy

“Provide the Athlete an opportunity to be successful in high level athletics, while becoming positive members of the community, the school, and the team.”

Success to me can be defined as, the athletes will be better at the end of the season than they were at the beginning. This will be achieved by being fundamentally sound, while being mentally strong, and simply working hard.

Program Goals

  1. State Titles (A) Team Titles (B) Individual Titles
  1. Academics (A) Collective GPA
  1. Community Service (A ) Volunteering (B) Planned Events

Team Rules

  1. Time lost will be made up.
  2. Zero Tolerance for discriminating against another person or group.
  3. Standards of academics will be upheld.

. We are looking forward to assisting our Wrestling Coach and his Squad !

Tying some Aaron Sorkin in with some Taylor Swift – Glenvar, Look what you made me do ! After an all night drive and Nap process Kris Richardson and I personally handed 44 of the 50 Gifted Books out this afternoon and evening !!

We had a plan to leisurely pass out our Books 📚 all day on Thursday before I leave town to go to Boone and Louisville for the weekend. Carroll County defeated Radford last night and afterwards we headed back to Laurel Fork thinking we were done for the night 🌙.

Then the official word came through that for the second time inside of a week Glenvar had defeated regular season Champion Alleghany.

Quick Math told me that our wide open window on Thursday just got slammed shut as now there was a Volleyball 🏐 Match to announce on Thursday in the Carroll County Gymnasium.

Quickly throw the shoes back on and head up the Interstate in the direction of Harrisonburg. A quick nap while waiting for the shop to open at 8am. Snag #2 – the special ordered Books 📚 for the players and coaches would be ready for another three hours = more Car 🚗 rest. Getting the Goods back to Carroll County wasn’t the surprise because I have spent my life pushing the envelope. The surprise came later when Amazingly we were able to gift 🎁 44 of the 50 copies inside of a four hour window Down on Main Street. I finally met Howard Mayo and shared a laugh with Craig Worrell about how when we were speaking in the gym after the match I hadn’t mentioned the gathering to him then. With a straight face I was able to say that the plan didn’t exist 24 hours earlier!

Ron Cochran was a gracious host until closing time and then we headed next door to Pizza 🍕 Perfect. What a wild 24 hours and yes I’m possibly the only person that wasn’t thrilled to here about Glenvar but us taking a bullet kept everyone else in the Cavalier Gym tomorrow night.

What a terrific time this evening with Kris and all of the appreciative folks we met with. One year from start to finish but hopefully 🙏 we have created something that will last for 50+ years !

Three more stories are in the shoot and I will make sure each of them get their proper due here in a bit

Adrienne Harris celebrated Senior Day down at Emory and Henry. Our new Wrestling Coach shares some insight about his plans and there was a JV Football 🏈 game tonight.

Special Thank You to Coach Nester for picking up Linda from the Doctors office 🏢 so I could make it to Ron’s on time.

Our Gifted Books 📚 set to be passed out tonight between 3:45 & 6pm Down on Main Street !!! Trying to find as many of the First 50 as Possible with the Breaking News about the Copies for the 13 Players & Coaching Staff !

Kris Richardson has been trying hard to invite Folks now that I’ve returned with the Goods. I will be heading into Hillsville as soon as Linda’s Doctors Appointment out here in Laurel Fork is complete.

For those interested in getting a copy outside of the 50 we have made arrangements with both Ron Cochran at Omega & Allen Worrell at The Carroll News to accept Donations to Local Charities starting Friday morning 🌄 as we attempt to pass out the 50 first.
