The two remaining Matches in league play promise to be exciting with the Glenvar – James River contest being the equivalent of a District Tournament play-in game.
Both teams will enter the contest at 6-5 meaning the team that falls short will land at 6-6. The winning team will land at 7-5, earning a road trip out to Alleghany High School π« next Tuesday evening.
The other match will take place between Carroll County and Radford, both currently sitting at 8-3 ahead of the Bobcats hosting the Cavaliers.
The two teams will play again five days later with Thursdays winner hosting their opponent.
10-2 belongs to Alleghany
. 9-3 will be the Radford – CCHS winner
8-4 to the team that falls in that match.
. 7-5 goes to JRHS – Glenvar winner
. 6-6 goes to the team that doesn’t
. The ever so rare 10-9-8-7-6 finish shows just how competitive the league has been all season. Each of the Top 5 finished 4-0 against Floyd County (1-11) and Patrick County (1-11). Fortunately those two squads split their matches with each other, keeping someone from finishing 0-12.
Alleghany losses – CCHS & Glenvar
Carroll losses – Alleghany, JRHS & Radford
Radford losses – Alleghany (2) & JRHS
Glenvar defeated James River 3-1 last month, right before the Knights caught fire π₯. After finishing the first half 2-4 they have won four of five with the sole loss being to Alleghany in five sets.
Two great matches are set to be played Thursday night in the I-81 corridor. Carroll County looks to revenge a Home π‘ five set defeat against the Bobcats. Coach Edwards and her Lady Cavaliers will get to host on the Hill next Tuesday night π if they can accomplish this tomorrow night. A dozen or so exists up the freeway James River will look to go 5-1 over the second half against the Highlanders.
It’s worth noting that Alleghany (6-0 first half, 4-2 second) fell to Glenvar 3-1 last night as part of two matches played on consecutive nights. First the Cougars played Monday night at Floyd before returning to the Highlands for School on Tuesday then driving over to Glenvar and then returning home.

318 School π« Bus π miles in just over 24 hours for the Cougars. But they can now stay Home for the next few matches, possibly as many as four.
Carroll County is the only team that made the Trek up there during league play and returned home with a W. Something that the Lady π© Cavaliers hope to get another shot at next week.

Alleghany was slotted in Region 3C, opposite of Carroll County in 3D. This leaves the Cavaliers as the only Three Rivers District team playing in Region 3D.
