So many things happening on so many different fronts so let’s get started!

#1 – Mrs. Shelia Harris gets a Gold Star 🌟 for her act of kindness over the past 24 hours !

#2 – Paul’s Sister-in-Law and Brother are over in Stuart today for the Junior Varsity Football game and have offered to keep us in the know.

#3 – It turns out that its not just my BossMan and I that welcomed in a new edition this week. Hulk Smash Kevin Burress has added another Youth Softball group – we now have a U12 team that slides in between U14 & U10. Typing this one out while taking in one of their practices at the Middle School 🏫 Softball Field

#4 – Coach Nester & I, with the help of Nancy’s Husband are planning a Fun addition to the next Daughter vs Family 👪 softball game.

#5 – Softball practice on the Varsity side today was focused on defense as the team works toward a Jamboree in the works for next Thursday.

#6 – Shelia was also trying to help us show some 💘 for the Varsity Cheer Team. While I have never actually had a conversation with the folks in charge there, they are a large part of CCHS and we would Welcome 🙏 anything they would like to share with us !

#7 – Marion has sent in some more pictures 📷 from last night 🌙 and I will share them when I’m in a place with solid internet.

The posts 📫 later tonight will be separated out and will happen from Boone (Appy State) as we get ready for a Noon start tomorrow as we host the Miami of Ohio Redhawks. Also still have to write ✍ this week’s version of As the Spiral Spins.

Later tonight I will stop long enough to check the stats of Daniel Jones ( Duke QB) as his Giants play at San Francisco.

We are constantly meeting up with people here in Carroll County and one tries to make a quick read on people and their positions on our efforts with OneofUs.Care and Carroll County Sports Report. Folks are incredibly busy and I have the utmost respect for anyone Coaching a High School, Middle School or Pee-wee team. What we do out here most people would consider Soft journalism and I’m perfectly Happy with that because it is, by choice. No ” Breaking News” or “Fake News”, just trying to make ALL of the Student Athletes feel that they are important to Carroll County.

The latest person we have crossed paths with is our new Golf Coach Chase and his Wife Alyssa. The minute I heard he was trying to raise funds so his Student Athletes could carry matching Golf Bags. One conversation in, I was sold on the idea 💡of helping him reach his goal!

Amongst the things we pitched in with was setting aside $800.00 for 8 player spots. The doubling down / Multi Tasking part comes in with the passing out of those eight spots. I wasn’t looking for the next Jack Nicklaus or Curtis Strange ( my All-Time favorite because our paths crossed a few times), I was looking for eight people that had given our Cause time they didn’t have to. The equivalent of buying someone a $100.00 Cracker Barrell Gift Card while supporting Chase and his Bride 👰.

Here’s my All-Star lineup and their own digs (Volleyball 🏐 Term) at their own level of Golf ⛳ skills.

TEAM #1 of 2

Alan Knight of Page County High School 🏫. Alan has been supporting our Causes for 20 years now and will be making a 3+ hour drive 🚗 that morning 🌄. Alan didn’t apologize for his lack of playing ability.

Kris “I’m terrible at Golf” Richardson – Kris has only been at this with us for 1 year but it probably feels like 20 years.

Cindy”Only if its Putt Putt” Edwards – Cindy is like Family 👪 to Linda and I and she treats us accordingly. True is, she was on the fence about it until I told her she would spend the five hours in a cart with Coach Knight. They has combined to Win somewhere in the area of 1,000 Volleyball 🏐 Matches.

I will be hanging out with these Wonderful people and will feel bad if we don’t finish in last place!

Team 2 of 2…..

Rick “Nobody wants me on their team, I’m terrible” Nester – Anyone who knows the relationship that Paul’s Brother and I have should know that Nester was the first person at CCHS that sought me out and asked me to make his Softball Diamond 💎 / Park more fun. One never forgets their first.

Next Up – Our Baseball ⚾️ Coach Kevin DeHaven. The respect that I have for Kevin DeHaven is win or lose, Kevin checks in with us & sometimes it about missing scores for teams that he’s not responsible for. I don’t get to work with Kevin like I do Rick but the level of respect is the same

Our third Golfer 🏌️‍♂️ on this team is Mr. Chris Leonard and I am going to tie him in with our fourth Golfer 🏌️‍♂️ for a couple of reasons.

Our 4th Golfer is Kevin ” Hulk Smash” Burress. Walking around Carroll County in the dead of Summer wearing NHL jerseys to make myself easier to spot paid off in ACES with Kevin. I continue to be amazed by his energy and willingness to help out with Sports that aren’t his to worry about. We don’t pass out Membership Cards to folks that join our efforts but if we did Kevin’s would be Gold Plated ! The fact that Mama Petty amd I were in Stuart trying to impersonate his Hulk Smash was just good clean fun. Kevin also believes that he has zero Golf ⛳ skills and he doesn’t know all of the rest of this group so to insure he would feel Welcome and asked him to invite a Cart Buddy to ride along with for those five hours. I am looking forward to spending some time Mr. Leonard because if he’s hangs out with our Resident Incredible Hulk he has to be a Top Shelf Man. I forgot to tell Kevin he has to play with the Hulk Smash gloves on !

Earlier tonight I posted every athlete that ran Cross Country for Mr. & Mrs. Montgomery because its what we believe should happen. If you are going to talk the talk…..

Here is a list of people that I also reached out to along the same lines. For various reasons that there’s no reason to share, they couldn’t make it. But it’s important to still show the Love 💘.

In no particular order :

Shawn Montgomery – because he makes my task of covering his squads as easy as possible.

Forrest Johnson and his Staff – Forrest falls into a unique category in my World 🌎. Consider him and his the group I respect the most but spend the least amount of time with. Keep up the tremendous 👏 efforts !

Alan Worrell of the Carroll News – Alan is my Fellow Homer and partner in a great deal of everything we do.

. Greg ” Mr. T” Talley – such a blessing and someone who I have a great deal in Common with!

Ron Cochran – is a HUGE part of everything we touch but he’s busy being Brandi’s Dad 👨 and Nancy’s Husband. 💘.

In closing, I am going to do something that is out of the norm for me. Yes, a check was written for this and that and Yes I spread it around to show my appreciation for others. But does it really show just how much I believe in Chase ?

This event was planned for last Sunday and it was protected from the rest of my responsibilities. This Sunday will be the Polar opposite of protected.

Here’s the lead- in for me to Sunday at 12:30pm.

Friday morning 🌄 I will drive down to Boone to host/ annouce an Appalachian State University Field Hockey 🏑🏒 game that should end around 1:30pm. My train to Rhode Island departs Roanoke at 4:30 – leaving 6 minutes of wiggle room. The 16 hour train 🚆 ride had been planned for months because Duke University is playing Football 🏈🏈🏈 at UCONN Saturday at 3:30pm Saturday.

The game will end at 7pm – 17 hours before we meet up at Olde Mill for the event. Was going to fly home 🏡 because my next commitment wasn’t until 500pm Monday with the Volleyball team.

Needing to be back by Noon Sunday eliminates Flights. Buses and Trains 🚆. New plan now is rental car 🚗 after game to Alan’s home 🏡 in Harrisonburg (7 hours) where I will switch from driver to shotgun seat for the next 3+ hours and then pop-out of the Car 🚗 smiling.

There’s a very line between being Committed and needing to be Committed!!!! Bonus – Alan will be in Cindy’s Gym Monday and Tuesday night until we figure out how and when to get him back to H’BURG.

I don’t just say I believe in people and their efforts. This weekend certainly won’t play out the way it was drawn up but a Commitment is a Commitment – besides, with my pairing, will it really matter if I am too tired to see the Golf Ball?

We have created some small scale Goody Bags 🎒 for all Golfers 🏌️‍♂️ and have given some thought to offering a Care Package 📦 to anyone who finishes behind us. But we are showing up on Sunday for any other reason than to have quality time while supporting our new Golf ⛳ Coach!

You won’t hurt my feelings by laughing out loud at any of that because Trust Me, I am laughing too.

In all of that I failed to list the Golf ⛳ scores from the Tuesday afternoon Match with Patrick County and Floyd County at Olde Mill –

1st piece of business is explaining that it wasn’t an official Match, just a scrimmage. This change was due to Floyd County having reached its maximum amount of Matches allowed.

Chase gets us the 411 on the Day!

We still came in second with the following scores:

Meanwhile out here on the Farm 🚜 Kris Richardson and I will be going at it well into the evening. When asked what’s it like to work for a Local Legend like Kris I asked the person does he remember the seen from the Godfather with the 🐎 Head ?

. One day when I admitted to being tired in the 18th hour of a Day – He told me that he could find an Ape to take my place and ever since I’ve shared my office 🏢 space with this Big Guy
