The midway point of the season for the Lady Cavalier soccer team ends with a big Three Rivers District win vs Alleghany. A beautiful day for a soccer match even though the ladies had to ride for over 2.5 hours to play it. The scoring started when Natalie Harris found Ashlyn Newman for her 10 th goal of the season. Alleghany tied things up a few minutes later but that was short lived and the last time it was tied. Natalie Harris got her first goal of the night when one of her corner kicks was deflected into the goal to put the Cavs up 2-1. The scoring for the 1st half was capped off when Karmen Smith found Ashlyn Newman to send the cavaliers to halftime with a 3-1 lead.
The 2nd half started off just like the 1st half ended with two straight goals by Ashlyn Newman and both were assisted by Karmen Smith. The next two were scored by Karmen Smith with one of those being assisted by Freshman Callie Harris. The other was unassisted. The score stood at 7-1 and the last two goals were masterpieces put together by our two captains. The 8th goal came when Natalie Harris put a perfect through ball to Ashlyn Newman as she was sprinting from the center back position to tuck it in the side netting. The last goal of the night came when Ashlyn returned the favor to Natalie (10th of the season) to finish the game with the score 9-1. Ashlyn Newman tied two school records, most goals in a game with 5 and the most points in a game with 11. The cavaliers finish the first half of the season at 5-2-1 and have scored 39 goals and have only given up 9. Go Lady Cavs!!!!!
