The Cavaliers JV Baseball βΎοΈ team was slated to play a scrimmage game on Saturday up in the Roanoke area and that contest was rescheduled to this afternoon at 4pm. As I type this out I do not have anyone connected to the team that can help document the results from their games this season but hopefully that will change soon enough.
The game has been rescheduled – five words that will get repeated a great deal during March and April. I know that its only a Scrimmage game and its getting played ahead of a kinda big Basketball π game a few exits down I-81 but in the campaign to acknowledge all CCHS Student Athletes and their efforts that means a Game is a Game.
Anyone reading this that is friends and or neighbors with someone affiliated with the JV Baseball βΎοΈ team please point them in our direction.
Taking a look at the other side of the Final Four bracket the first thing one would notice is that this will be the FOURTH time that Meridian has played Brentsville District since January 20th.
The Sports world is full of people that will tell you about just how hard it is to beat one team three times in the same season. But there’s not a great deal of conversation about having to do it four straight times inside of seven weeks. The perfect storm has to be created for this to happen and this year it did just that. I believe that the only way it could happen is in the State Semi-final game.
Let’s take a look back at the first three contests ahead of Round Four tomorrow night.
Game #1 – @ Meridian 1/20
Mustangs roll to a dominant 57-29 victory
Game #2 – @ Brentsville District 2/7
Mustangs win again but the game comes down to the wire on the road. Meridian 47-44
Game #3 – Regional Final @ Meridian
Low scoring affair that the home team wins again by a final of 37-31.
Totals for the three games – 141/104, AVG 47/34.6
Only 1 time out of six did a team break the 50 point barrier so there little reason to expect it to happen tomorrow night at McLean High School π« which should be noted is just a couple of miles from Meridian High School.
There are four possible Finals match-ups now and one of them would be a rematch of last years tilt.
Carroll County vs Meridian (Last Year)
Carroll County vs Brentsville District
Liberty Christian Academy vs Meridian
Liberty Christian Academy vs Brentsville District
Two of those options sound much better than the other two!
Tomorrow night at McLean could very well be a First Team to 45 Wins. So, just how hard is it to win four games in a row ? I guess we will find out soon enough.
Let’s end it on a fun note – not counting scrimmages tomorrow night will be Game 27 for the Lady Cavaliers (Max Preps credits the team with two wins over Staunton River). My number will be at 19 out of 27 after tomorrow and I would love to hear other numbers because I know the team has some hard-core fans out there.
I believe that every Sunday during Spring Sports is a day that High School Athletic Directors treasure. No rain out concerns, no games to reschedule, just a day to Worship and Relax. While a large number of people in Carroll County are resting ahead of tomorrow night π when the Lady Cavaliers return up Highway 100 to Pulaski County High School……
We can write β more about the State Semi-final game later and we will. But for now I would like to focus on Paul’s Son-in-Law. See π, my neighbor out here in Laurel Fork has decided to join up with Marion Harris and I on our quest to provide as much positive coverage for our Student Athletes as we can.
The task that this young man is taking on here at Oneofus.care is a large one and could make an impact on the folks here in our part of the County for a generation! Only because I can’t help myself when it comes to my sense of humor…….
How big is his mission ? It’s so Big that if pulls it off we might have to shift the center of the Carroll County Universe by changing Paul’s name to Kris’s Father-in-law. That would mean rebranding oh so many folks that it might take a while.
People ask me every so often what are the Goals that Lin and I have for our Non-profit Organization? One of them is very simple, to team up with people that we feel are similar to us and help them create something that otherwise might not exist. Sometimes its a building, others are more personal and this one would be Close to Home.
What sealed the deal on my connection to this man ? When I went over to his house π he had a Duke flag at the end of his driveway !!
We have your back to Infinity and beyond on this one. But if we do flip the script and make you in Charge of the Laurel Fork community there will one exception. At that point Coach Nester’s new name will be “My new Best Bud”.
I might be the only one out here that is equally excited about the game on Tuesday as I am about the game on Monday.
If you see Kris out there make sure you offer him some words of encouragement!
Softball and Baseball Diamonds, Tennis πΎ courts, Soccer β½οΈ pitches to name a few. Boys teams, Girls teams, Varsity teams and JV Teams. To be honest I am not sure that I have the exact count on the number of Spring Teams that compete under the Carroll County High School Spring Umbrella.
The only way we can achieve our Goal to offer some level of coverage to every single athlete on every single team is if we divide and conquer.
I will be working with the Softball program and Marion Harris is gathering the Soccer β½οΈ information and I believe that Mr. Talley is going to keep us up to speed on all of the Tennis πΎ action.
The plan is a simple one when you break it down. The goal is to create a space that contains everything happening in the World π of Carroll County Sports, as long as its positive.
Coach Johnson checked in with Marion after the Varsity Boys and JV Boys also played their initial scrimmages today.

Varsity team as a whole deserves credit for playing without our starting goalie and starting striker. Only had 3 subs and they all played for each other and did well
From Coach Johnson varsity boys
Coach also added some insight on the JV effort :
Our JV team lost two very close games but they never gave up. I was very impressed as a whole.
