Day: March 31, 2023
Welcome to Rainy (and Windy) Radford High School 🏫 {Live, All Day}

Mary and Don have taken in a rain 🌧 soaked reporter as we try to set up our attempt to provide coverage for our Boys 👦 and Girls Track teams.

I admittedly don’t have a ton of Track Knowledge but Mary is going to keep me pointed in the right direction. All-American Relays is the official name of today’s event and we will try and self educate throughout the Day.
Coaches meeting at Noon at the Start / Finish Line is the first official announcement of the event.

We are close to getting underway !

What would cause a person to drive 🚗 up to Radford High School on a cold, wet and windy day ?
Especially when chances are that the results would eventually find their way down to me. For one to fully appreciate the level of commitment it takes to participate in Track at the High School level one should see 👀 it through their eyes. Wake up and get to school, take some classes, pack up and ride a Bus 🚌 up Highway 🛣 100 and try your best to both stay dry and compete at your Best.
I am not sure that I will get the best photos today but I can promise you that at the end of the day I will have a greater understanding of their commitment and if I do it successfully then our readers will have the same appreciation !

More dedicated Cavalier Track team members.
It’s worth noting that the first group of events are taking place on four different parts of the Radford campus. The Shotput is a few hundred yards from the Discus event and the Girls Long Jump is on the opposite end of Stadium 🏟 from the Boys Long Jump. This is relavent in that it eliminates cross over support from parents and fellow teammates.

156pm – First official announced results – Girls 👧 High Jump – winning at 4 Feet, 10 inches.
The Snow Cone tent ⛺ is my unofficial Home 🏡 for the day as the incredibly pleasant Couple 💑 have taken in a stray.
The event is now in its 50th year !!

34 Total Events and at 2:48pm the weather is deteriorating but the Athletes just March on !
My unofficial count is 47 individual entries and 4 relay entries under the Carroll County Track flag 🏳

The Post Race Look !

One of the Hot Ticket 🎟 items today as we close in on the 4:00pm hour.

#Troopers

5pm – heading down the Home Stretch !

5:20pm – we might be of need of the Stadium 🏟 Lights !

Heading towards 6pm – everyone is trying hard to stay warm and in Good Spirits !
Boys 👦 Tennis 🎾 story submitted and I will post it here after Alan runs it.

To try and keep the material fresh for Alan Worrell and his readers I won’t post a story I have written until after they run it. The Tennis 🎾 coverage is complete and I was able to send a copy over to Mr.T for his approval.
Just how cool 😎 is Mr. T ? Last night when I asked Coach if he was okay with being Mr.T he responded with a Mr.T muscle pose and then gave a pretty impressive “I pitty the Fool”.
Just know that both Coach T and I are very old and like to reflect back on our Youth, while we still can.
Good 🌄 Morning – Its Friday and we have both Track & some 👩 Hokie History in Dallas.

Boys and Girls Track will take place up in Radford at 3pm and on TV 📺 tonight at 7pm Coach Kenny Brooks and his Lady Hokies will play their first ever Final Four Women’s Basketball game !
