We knew that the challenge of Spring and the 11 teams was a Big One and it has proven too large.

When your Goal is to attempt to provide some form of balanced coverage for teams playing in the same season its an Uphill battle from the start. The task has reached its conclusion for the Spring with two major factors being the reason.

First – simply not knowing that over the years each team has reached out into the World of Social Media and created its own Facebook page as a way to share the news about their own Sport. Then you add in the individuals that also have created Pages to shine a Light on the activities of our Student Athletes and the number continues to grow. The motto of Find a Need and Fill It is what led me down the path over the past 18 months came from simply not knowing just how much coverage already existed through Social Media. A fair amount of our coverage has come from borrowing stories from other sites after the fact. I now understand that Carroll County is not lacking in coverage, it was just hiding in plain sight.

Secondly – the belief is that All Student Athletes are equal and should be treated as such isn’t just a line for me, its reality. There are 11 teams competing in the Spring season right now between Boys πŸ‘¦ and Girls πŸ‘§ / Junior Varsity and Varsity. The only way to give each team a balanced feel would have been to have a person or people connected to each team. We fell short in that category by a decent amount and tonight is a great example as both of the Track teams are competing in their Senior Day meet.

The lack of coverage for them would simply be to glaring to hide. The intention was full of all the right things but its time to reevaluate and come up with an alternate plan.

Marion Harris is providing some quality coverage from the Girls Soccer ⚽️ program and we will continue to run πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ with it for as long as he’s willing to share it with us. The same goes for all contributing people that want to send items in to us.

Maybe there will be a Day where all 11 teams can fit under one roof but until that days comes we need to stop trying to force the issue.

Last night the JV Girls πŸ‘§ traveled over to Auburn High School 🏫 for a stand alone contest. Not only was it JV only, it was the lone official game being played under the CCHS Umbrella last night.

The JV Girls Softball team as well as the JV Boys Baseball ⚾️ team are some of the unsung Heroes in High School sports. They get very little attention throughout the season outside of their Family πŸ‘ͺ and Friends and often find themselves in very lopsided games. Lopsided in both directions, winning and losing, because at that level the talent of the players has such a wide variance from Community to Community.

Our paths cross more with Mrs. Dalton than other Coaches because of our work with Coach Nester and his staff. This is important because last night πŸŒ™ over at Auburn the Lady πŸ‘© Cavaliers dropped an 11-1 decision to a talented ball club.

Late last week the team defeated Bassett High 15-2 in another example of the ups and downs of a Junior Varsity season. The goal of the JV Coach is to prepare his or her Student Athletes to compete at the next level to their Best of their Abilities.

Coach Dalton and her Staff do a tremendous job πŸ‘ of developing the younger Cavaliers for the next level and that shows with the current and recent past success of the Varsity program.

” Alexis said Burris was a wall behind the plate tonight.”

The quote above came from Coach Dalton by way of Coach Nester in describing the efforts of her Catcher, Miss Burress.

The game didn’t go the way that the team had hoped for last night but in the grand scheme of things the final score was just some numbers at the end of the night πŸŒ™. The next round of Varsity Cavaliers are one step closer to the actual end goal.

Keep up the Great Work Coach Dalton !
