Good Evening from Zions Crossroads – Will the last person to leave Hillsville please remember to Lock Up

Like so many others in Carroll County we were faced with the question of how to get up to Richmond in the best manner ? Our answer ended up being Zions Crossroads. First thing to address tonight is to applaud 👏 the folks that coordinated the Send Off this morning. Job very well done by all involved 👏.

Knowing that Alan will be Courtside and Lin will be keeping our unofficial book I get to choose the manner that I can best enhance the experience for the Players and the Parents.

I have landed on two things – I have been practicing how to count backwards from seven for Miss Hagee and to try and capture as many pictures 📷 of the Cavaliers Nation in the stands. None of the up close pictures will be taken during game action. Just before the contest and during the breaks.

A great day would be to capture at least one picture of each family 👪 but the challenge there is I don’t know exactly how to identify each family. So if you see someone that walks with a noticeable limp and looks lost please stop and get my attention.

This team of 10 and the Coaching staff has taken us all for such a wonderful ride up to this point and anything that we can do to further enhance the experience for them is our Goal.

Godspeed on your journey tonight or tomorrow and here’s hoping that the young Ladies are allowing themselves to enjoy the experience to its fullest !

It’s time for my Favorite Segment – It’s Paul’s World 🌎 Photo 📷 of the Day

Today we spent a piece of time with the Staff at the Carroll News and towards the end of the swapping of stories our favorite Home Town Sports writer went back into his office 🏢 to grab what he calls one of his Prized possessions.

The picture 📷 above shows Alan Worrell holding a softball signed by the State Championship team from Carroll County. The ball was a gift to show appreciation for the coverage Alan provided the team. Such a nice gesture by Paul’s Brother.

Safe travels Alan on your way to Richmond and hope to see you up there !

Breaking News – Coach Motley out (as team Bus Driver). Cavalier Ladies Get Grand Sendoff

The Lady Cavaliers have lifted the spirits of folks across Carroll County for years now and this morning the Community was given an opportunity to show its appreciation for their efforts. In a parade that started with the Team exiting the school in a Red Carpet style, one behind the other in front of hundreds of fellow Students and Faculty.

The line of vehicles behind the School Bus represented a large number of Community members including the Sherrifs Department, Fire 🔥 Department, EMS, VDOT and then even let Paul’s Son-in-Law drive a dump truck 🚚.

Shortly after 9am the Parade started with lights and sirens 🚨 blaring and it was only getting started. Folks from one end of Main Street to the other were lined up to show their support and where that group ended the Students from the Middle School took over. The Middle School had its part organized with their Students evenly lined up on both sides of the street.

The event was a tremendous success and I am sure that everyone on that Bus is still basking in the warmth of the moment as they head North on I-81 on the Road to Richmond. We were able to capture a large number of pictures and will share the best ones in a separate post once Kevin gets to cut ✂️ my hair.

Two Road Trips in one weekend for this Dynamic Duo and their Beautiful Brides 👰.

A large portion of the County is going to make the Trek to Richmond and back over the next two days but four brave Souls are going to make the trek back up Interstate 81 on Sunday afternoon.

I have spent the better part of two years planning and creating a format for the Carroll County Sports Report. We (Lin & I) are very proud of our efforts up to this point but we are still falling short in one crucial aspect which is getting the word out that one place exists where someone could spend five or 10 minutes a day in a Happy environment by reading about positive things taking place inside the Carroll County Sports World 🌎.

The first two people to step up to get involved were Marion Harris and Paul’s Son-in-Law. They are now being joined by Paul’s Brother and Brandi’s Dad. There’s plenty of seats left on the Bus 🚌.

Cindy Edwards is in charge of our Public Relations and the Petty Family 👪 were truly wonderful people to be around.

This weekend we will be hosting an event (the date we chose was not an accident because we picked the first day after the Girls Basketball team could possibly be playing. Our Banquet will bring together all aspects of Oneofus.care and place them inside one room. The equivalent of a Giant Group Hug from everyone involved. I have gone as far as to label it the Most Important Day of my Life.

Kris and Marion will journey behind the curtain of what are mission is because they are now part of it. Marion is actively in the Co-pilot seat with the Carroll County Sports Report. There are days he out works me on this and not just on the teams that his Daughters played on. Last night was an amazing example in that I woke up this morning to notes on the Boys Soccer ⚽️ team which meant they were delivered after I stopped for the night at 10:30.

Now on to Paul’s Son-in-Law who is trying to possibly flip the script in the Laurel Fork chain of Royalty. Not only has Kris been actively trying to help us day to day but he has willingly signed up for a task that will require him to log hundreds of hours. I showed Kris a copy of a Book that we had created years ago for the Strasburg High School Volleyball 🏐 team after they won a State Championship. I had covered the team that year from start to finish and with the help of our Daughters created a Book that included something from every player, every Coach and every parent.

Once we finished with it we gifted it to the High School 🏫. There was no need to try and sell it to anyone because that’s not what we are about. I lent Kris one of the two copies that I kept and asked him to read through it and see what he thought. We did this quite like because the season was only half over. I explained to him the amount of time it would take from him to gather up the information we would need to produce it at the quality level that these young Ladies deserved. I tried to give Kris all of the issues that we would hit and I couldn’t chase him off.

How will it work ? Kris will gather all of the information from the players and their parents. Next up will be to get the Coaches view and then Kris will have to make the decision on who else within the school system should be offered to submit their take.

It will be my job to sit down with Kris at this point and tie all of the information together and narrate the story from beginning to end. I will do this without high jacking their story because it is their story.

The next step will be to offer Alan Worrell an opportunity to submit any of his coverage of the team ( which I am a Big Fan of) that he would like to contribute. Once we have that we will need someone in the English department at the School to offer to proof read it.

Then I will begin work with Omega Man who has agreed to produce said book 📖 for us at the most reasonable cost possible. I now am sure that Brandi’s Dad gets it because this Morning he called me Linda’s Husband and I almost teared up.

Next step is to take the first 50 copies of the book at present 🎁 them to Kris because he will have done the Lions share of the work so he will get the honor of personally handing his Book to the 10 players and then down the line. Just like the NCAA Bubble, I am not sure who will be 51st on his list?

At that point I will coordinate with Ron a plan that would allow his shop to sell the book for his cost plus a small markup which Ron will choose a Charity of his choice to donate it to.

Our task will be to cover all the costs of the setup process and to produce the initial copies. The only question was what to do if they don’t win on Friday? In our eyes it doesn’t change the story about a group of Young Ladies that have carried an entire County to a level of pride that is unmesurable. It only changes the title from “Back to Back” to “Putting Carroll County on the Map”.

If a loss on Friday diminishes this story even a little bit then you should avoid reading our Sports Report because over here we think they have already Won our Hearts.

If you Pray 🙏 say a prayer for Kris and if you don’t then just wish him Good Luck.

As for Mr. Harris and I will just keep chasing down Carroll County scores for a readers to enjoy. Marion gets .3 cents per story so if he does this with me he will earn enough to buy a book or two for his Daughters at Emory & Henry.

These are two terrific men and hope they will enjoy both of their Weekend Loops! Thank you to both of the Mrs for agreeing to come along to the otherside of the curtain.
