Tonight’s Basketball 🏀 action concludes the Three Rivers District portion of the schedule.

While there will still be regular season games remaining for each of the four teams, tonight will end the District portion of the schedule.

The Varsity Girls(9-0) can clinch the regular season title in the six team league and will be looking to finish with a Perfect 10-0 in the District. Floyd County currently sits at 8-1

The Junior Varsity squad competes in a four team league because both Radford and Alleghany don’t field a team. The Cavaliers have a chance to split the season series with Floyd County and tie for the top spot.

Floyd County will be hosting the District Post Season next Saturday with the action 🎬 getting underway at 2pm.

The Varsity Boys enter tonights game with a 3-6 District mark but are coming off on one of the best performances of the season in their victory over James River at home last week. While the top spot in the District is out of reach an opportunity to move up in the standings is definitely in play.

The JV Boys compete in a six team District and the one day Post Season includes the Top Four. CCHS swept James River and split with Alleghany during the season so tonights contest will go a long way in determining the final resting place in the standings.

Play begins tonight at 4:30pm for both JV teams and then the two Varsity teams will follow in the Main Gym.

Twas the Night 🌙 before Floyd when all through the House not a Cavalier was stirring, not even a Mouse

The day that every High School Athletic Director dreams of might be an overstatement but not only is today Groundhog Day but its also Nothing on the Cavaliers Sports Calendar Day.

The Winter teams have now officially entered the final week of their regular season and they’re still plenty of games to play, just not today.

A day of rest for all of the Cavs faithful ahead of a busy weekend of Basketball 🏀. All four of the High School teams will head over to Floyd tomorrow night to be followed up with the Girls Varsity playing its regular season finale in Salem at 2 pm on Saturday.

The games at Floyd will be played once again with what I refer to as a 1-3 format. Floyd is one of the area schools with two gyms and they will both host a Junior Varsity game at 4:30. Once those games are finished the smaller Gym will be done and everyone will spend the remainder of the evening in the Main gym.

The atmosphere in our building when Floyd came over was electric and I am expecting the same over at their place. Maybe its a good thing everyone has a day to rest up!

Last night 🌙 over in Galax the Girls JV team earned a hard fought Non-District contest victory over the home team, 29-23. Please check out their results on the Live Blog a couple of posts back

Have a Great Day off, well except for school and work and the rest of real life.

Turning back the Clock ⏰ with some Carroll County History

We are just a few days away from a Celebration that will honor 🎖 one of the Living Legands of Carroll County – Mr. Frank Beamer.

Mr.Beamer was making a name for himself before there was a CCHS (built in 1969) . Prior to then the High School for the County was Hillsville High School.

Credit to the Carroll News for the story on the right at the top of this post. The fact that Blacksburg High School will be the visiting team on Monday night simply cannot be an accident. Beamer always remained known as Fancy Gap Frank to many as his legendary Coaching career developed just up I-81 in Blacksburg.

Virginia Tech football became a nationwide brand under the guidance of Beamer and peaked when the Hokies played for the National Championship.

Reaching the level of success that Coach did is something to Celebrate but the fact that he never forgot where he came from is something you treasure !

Beamer has traded roaming the sidelines and whopping the ACC for now being a Proud Papa on Saturday afternoons as his son Shane is carrying on in the Family Business down in Columbia, South Carolina as the Head Coach of the Gamecocks.

It will be an exciting night for all of Carroll County High School fans on Monday or maybe we can truly turn back the clock ⏰ and play as Hillsville High for a night.

This looks like the right place for some Cavaliers Girls Basketball 🏀 Live Blog (W, 29-23)

Tip is set for 17 minutes away here in the Gym @ Galax and the schedule has the Galax Varsity Boys hosting Graham immediately after our contest.

We will bring you the action from start to finish once the contest is underway.

Play Ball

The shots didn’t fall in the first six minutes but the defense was stellar.

The offense catches up with the defense in the second quarter, allowing the Cavs to take a 14-11 lead into the locker room.

Balanced scoring for the Cavaliers as Callie Harris, Carrie Delp and Savannah Swecker lead the team with four points apiece. Jocie Dalton also scored for Head Coach Kayla Nester.

The teams are now returning for the second half.

Another solid 6:00 minutes for the Lady 👩 Cavs

Laiken Burnette connected twice on baseline 3-pointers in the fourth quarter and Delp iced the victory with a pair of late free throws as CCHS trips up Galax 29-23.

CCHS (29) – Carrie Delp 9, Laiken Burnette 8, Callie Harris 4, Savannah Swecker 4, Jocie Dalton 4.
