Congratulations to Sophomore Louis Marshall for placing 3rd at Regionals which advances him to the State meet!

We posed a two part question to Louis about wrestling for Carroll County High School – (A) What is your favorite part ? (B) What advice would you give a fellow classmate that was interested in possibly joining the team ?

Louis – “I enjoy being a part of the team and my favorite part is working so hard together.”

” I would tell people that it’s hard, I trained all Summer and still wasn’t prepared for it.”

Ethan (#20) is a 5’8 Sophomore Guard who is also one of Paul’s Grandchildren. We sat down with Ethan and asked him the same four questions that we asked his teammates.

QUESTION #1 – If you were describing how you play the game to someone who has never watched you before, which player would you choose as an example?

Ethan –

Kyree – because he also plays to pass first.

QUESTION #2 – Who would choose as the best comparison to your Coach Barnes?

Ethan –

San Antonio Spurs Legandary Coach Greg Popovich

Because they are both so energetic !

QUESTION #3 – What is your favorite part of being a member of the Cavaliers program right now ?

The friendships and the bonding amongst the teammates.

QUESTION #4 – You are on a Podium to receive an Award who is on your list to Thank ?

Ethan – God, Mom and Dad, Coach Barnes and my teammates.

Our third player and family 👪 in the JV Girls set of 15.

Friday will stack up to be the Big Day for three of the Cavaliers four teams competing 💪 in the Post Season.

Things will be made a bit more complicated with the fact that three different parts of the State will be hosting the events.

Richmond – 9am start for Swimming 🏊‍♂️

Roanoke / Salem – 1pm start for Wrestling

Hillsville – 6pm Boys Basketball 🏀

Round 2 (QF) – will take place on Tuesday January 21th with the Girls team hosting the winner of the #8-#9 contest.

If they Boys 👦 are victorious on Friday they will travel over to Tunstall to face the #2 seed in a contest that will also be played Tuesday night 🌙.

College Football legendary Coach Ed Oregon, because Coach is always pumped up !

Davis – Happy to have experienced a healthy season and my friends on the team. Having fun with this group is a way of life.
