Ridgeway, VA – Last week two send offs occurred at Carroll County High School, one for the Swim πββοΈ Team and one for the Wrestling team. I was fortunate enough to be able to attend both and capture the moments the best way that I could.
In a send off you are escorting a team away from the school π« in what’s guaranteed to be their final competition for the School year. Both the Swimmers and the Wrestling team were guaranteed to complete their season when they left CCHS last week.
Today there was another departure time (12:30) set for when Bus #35 was going to pull away from 100 Cavs Drive. The Boys π¦ Varsity Basketball π team was heading over to Dry Fork for a 6:00pm contest against the #2 Tunstall Trojans.
Knowing the departure time in advance I pondered ever so shortly as to making the drive π to the High School for another send-off????
The answer came quickly in that it would be doing a disservice to Coach Barnes and his squad to make a big deal out of them leaving school. In some way it felt like it would be surrendering on the team, to not believe that they could once again be loading a Bus on Thursday afternoon.
Plan B was to jump in front of them on their trip and create a moment on the side of the Highway. I hoped it helped ease the moment for these 11 young men and the Coaching Staff.

Now sitting in Ridgeway I am equally convinced that this is not the Last Supper for the 2022-2023 Boys team but just a nice meal before a Big Game.
If it does turn out to be a Last meal as a team then its well deserved π as these young men have left it on the floor everytime out there this season.
