Let’s start out by congratulating each member of the group for all of the hard work they put in to reach this point !

Swimmers 🏊‍♂️ are limited to four events that they can participate in on a given day. Any combination of individual and relay races, up to four and they are good to go for the Cavaliers.

The letters PB are letting you know that a Swimmer 🏊‍♂️ has swam the race faster than they ever have before in a Meet – a Personal Best was recorded an Amazing 👏 15 times ! Gratitude for Marion for finding all 15 achievements.

This is where scoring in Swimming is as different as can be from other sports – an Athlete can place 12th for an example in a larger meet and still have recorded their best time ever.

We will go through the events in the order that they took place. If you see an !! after the results they should be heading to Richmond and a ?? Means needs verification

FINISHED – if any errors are found PLEASE let me know and I will get it corrected.

Great Night 🌙 in the Pool for all of the Cavaliers !

THANKS SO MUCH for getting them to Marion !

Next Friday in Richmond 2/17

Just a ccouple of Proud Dads !

Live from the Aquatic Center in C’Burg

First piece of business is to say Thank You to both the Host Head Coach and Host Athletic Director from Christiansburg High School for their assistance with getting as up to speed as possible.

11 Schools are set to compete here today and the list of them is just above. Carroll County has 7 Females and 9 Males for a total of 16 Student Athletes competing for the Cavaliers. It would appear that we have a total of 36 entries between the individual and relay events.

Two large pools, one with 12 lanes and one with 8 lanes will be in use for the event with the scoring apparatus being over the 12 lane Pool.

Christiansburg High School is the event host and the State Meet is the Ultimate Goal for everyone competing today. Right now each of the 11 teams are taking their turn at the timed warm-ups.

Each of the Swimmers 🏊‍♂️ listed will be competing in two events plus some of the Relay events. I will track down the 9th Boys 👦 Swimmer 🏊‍♂️ that participates in the Relay events only.

TThese two men are both Excellent Co-Reporters and Proud Papas !

Here’s what I report for now – the event ended just before 8pm and the Harris family and myself need to get back to Carroll County and once we do we will have plenty to report !

Today is the Day for a Regional Pool Party !

Marion Harris is once again trying to educate me on just how to cover High School Swimming 🏊‍♂️ and fortunately he is very patient man 👨.

Today both the Boys and Girls Swim teams compete in their Regional competition up at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center. The photo 📷 at the top of the post is what’s called a Heat Sheet and the Cavaliers swimmers are highlighted.

Everything in the competition happens so differently from any other sport. There are events that take less than a minute and the sole identification markings being a swim cap. Another big difference is that minus for two or three officials the entire process is self guided between the Coaches and volunteering parents.

My understanding today is that the Boys will be competing in one Pool while the Girls will compete in another one. In a few hours I will do my best to provide the level of coverage that our Student Athletes deserve 👏

From the Desk of Mr. Chris Graham

In a lifetime of chasing the next Great Story there are two people I fully trust with my thoughts. My youngest Daughter Rebecca McDowell can speak for me and Chris Graham at the AugustaFreePress is the one person that I will blindly trust to edit anything I write ✍.

I just received the link from Chris after I sent him the story late last night. I will be reading it after I finish this posting of the link.

Thank You Mr. Graham !

One thing you will notice in the two stories is that one is written for a Carroll County audience where Chris packaged it for a State wide Audience. A fun story from both perspectives !
