Live in the Gym on the Hill with a Big Night πŸŒ™ in store!

We are moments away from a night full of both Basketball πŸ€ and Ceremony. The JV Boys will be tipping off in just a few minutes vs Blacksburg.

The Carroll Dance team just wrapped up their Halftime performance and we are minutes away from the second half getting underway.

Isaiah Easter has 12 of the Cavaliers 21 and the team is within striking distance at 26-21

The JV contest is now in the books with the Cavaliers falling 52-41 as are the two touching Ceremonies that took place following the game. In order to give both of them the respect that they deserve I will wait to later and give them their own space.

Now we will jump forward to the Boys πŸ‘¦ Varsity game versus Blacksburg.

The first half was filled with runs πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ from both teams with Blacksburg jumping out to a 10-5 lead only to have the Cavaliers answer with a 17-2 response. Just as quickly Blacksburg closed the half on a 15-6 stretch.

Halfway through and its the Cavaliers 28-27.

Davis Reitzel connected 3 times from deep and leads the team in scoring with 11 points. Six Cavs scored in the opening half and the same will be needed in the second half.

Kudos to the Student Section πŸ‘ for a strong turnout!

Winter Sports are entering the Post Season this week!

It’s the time of the year where all of the Student Athletes begin the chase that is the goal for all involved, the answer to the question of far does all of my hard work take me and or my teammates?

Each of the teams are at various stages in their season. The Swimming πŸŠβ€β™‚οΈ Teams will be the first ones to jump into the Playoff Pool – I can only hope that was as funny to read as it was in my head.

4:30pm on Tuesday in Christiansburg @ The Aquatic is when both the Girls and Boys teams have their Regional Meet

The Varsity Girls πŸ‘§ Basketball πŸ€ team has completed its regular season and will be in a holding pattern for a couple of weeks before they host a Regional Quarterfinal game.

The Varsity Boys πŸ‘¦ Hoops team will be in action tonight on the Hill vs. Blacksburg and again on Thursday over at Galax. Then Coach Barnes and his team will await their fate to see if they open at home or on the road.

The Girls πŸ‘§ JV team will host Galax on Wednesday at 5pm to finish up their regular season and then head to Floyd County on Saturday for a #1 vs #2 Contest with the winner πŸ†taking the Post Season Championship.

The Boys JV team will be busy as they wait for the final standings of the regular season to play out. The Top Four advance and the Cavaliers will either finish 4th or 5th. Meanwhile they will play to Non-District contests, Monday at Home vs Blacksburg and Thursday at Galax.

The Wrestling team begins its Regional this weekend at 9am at Christiansburg High School or Abingdon High School.

I am not finding any information on the Cheer team so if someone can help us out it would be greatly appreciated !

Indoor Track is the remaining sport listed as a VHSL activity but I don’t think that we participate in it.

Go Cavaliers !

Monday Night has Blacksburg High coming to town and their bringing down a Very Special Guest

Today is the day that the Boys Basketball πŸ€ Bruins make their way to town, and they’re not coming alone. Legendary Virginia Tech football Coach and Carroll County born and raised Frank Beamer will be in the Gymnasium on the Hill as he joins the Carroll County High School Wall of Fame.

Over the history of sports a few athletes have been given a level of credit far beyond meer mortals.

Yankee Stadium was the House that Ruth built.

Safeco Field, the House Ken Griffey Junior built.

Lucas Oil Stadium, the House that Peyton Manning built.

Yes, for tonight let’s call Carroll County High School the House that Frank Beamer built!

Beamer roamed the halls and ruled the playing fields at Hillsville High School which was the institute of higher learning prior to 1969 when Carroll County High School opened its doors.

Beamer has always been credited with remembering where he came from and is still known to many as Fancy Gap Frank. The Coaches Mother remained in the County until her recent passing.

In a story from last year that appeared in the Carroll News the former Coach mentioned that he spends a great deal of time on I-77, the road that splits the County in half, running back and forth between Blacksburg and Columbia, South Carolina.

Shane Beamer has taken over the Family Business as he just completed his second season as the Head Coach of the Gamecocks after playing for his Father from 1995 to 1999.

Frank went 280-147 over his 29 seasons as the Head Hokie and along with long time DC Bud Foster created a lunch pale mentality and an identity known as Beamer Ball. Shane has added 15 victories to the Family total pushing that number up to 295 and counting.

Beamer was a 3 sport athlete but it was his skills as a Quarterback and Cornerback that landed him a scholarship to Virginia Tech and the rest is history. A long and rich history that an entire County will get to show its appreciation for one more time tonight. For tonight I will refer to the building as the House Frank Beamer built !
