Unofficial numbers from Boys Varsity Game vs Glenvar

After three quarters of play against the zone defense of Glenvar Tuesday night the Cavaliers had netted just 26 points and trailed by 10 points.

Over the final eight minutes the never say die Cavs dropped 29 on the Highlanders, but ran out of time, falling 60-55.

Bryce Smoot and Ethan Richardson led a balanced attack with 12 points each and Elijah Cox joined them in double figures with 10 in spite of battling a leg injury. Davis Reitzel added 9 points in the valant effort.

Heading into the fourth quarter CCHS had connected on just one 3-point basket before draining seven of them in the final frame. Richardson led the charge with a trio of 3-pointers while Bryce Smoot added a pair to go along with Jabin Talley and Brayden Smoot each connecting from long distance.

The squad returns to action tonight on the Hill hosting Grayson County in a make up game that was postponed last month due to weather.

The Lady Cavaliers return to action on Friday at 6pm in Radford. The schedule shows the night as Varsity only.

One night 🌙, 2 gyms and 4 teams

5:30pm – The night begins in the High School gym where the Varsity Girls host Three River District rival Glenvar.

The Highlanders controlled the pace early but the Lady Cavaliers turned up the defensive intensity, finally taking their first lead at 10-9. The lead reached 15-9 by the 2:00 mark of the opening quarter.

The Cavs closed the first on a 14-0 run to lead 22-9.

29-3 was the run spread across the opening quarters as the score went from 8-9 to 37-12.

Switching locations at the half over to the Boys JV game at the Middle School. The Cavs trail heading into the final 7:00 minutes.

Cavs call a timeout with 1:39 remaining with the score Highlanders 30, CCHS 18.

JV Boys come up short 35-21 while the Varsity Girls won 91-33 over at the High School

The JV Girls wasted no time in its contest versus Glenvar. A pressing defense lead to instant offense for the Cavaliers to the tune of 27-2 after the opening quarter.

With a little assistance from Marion Harris we will have a final score in this one before the night ends.

Heading back to the High School gym for the Boys Varsity action. The first half was full of aggressive play from both squads with the defenses pushing around the offenses.

8 minutes left in tonight’s action with the third quarter playing to a 10-10 tie.

41-34 with 3:53 on the clock ⏰. Cavs are leaving it all on the floor tonight.

Glenvar 50-36 before Cavs score five quick points, now 50-41 with 1:12 remaining.
