The Cavaliers fell behind early and trailed after the first quarter, 20-10

The second frame was much more to the Cavs liking, especially on the defensive end. JRHS drained a 3-pointer at the horn to push the lead out to 27-19 after CCHS had trimmed the deficit from 10 down to five.

The10 point hole from the opening 8:00 minutes proved just a bit to much for the Cavaliers to overcome. But to their credit they had a number of possessions where they could have trimmed the Knights lead to 2 or 3 points but couldn’t get the shot to drop.
Elijah Cox led the team in scoring with 13 points and was joined in double figures by Bryce Smoot (12 points). Eight of the 10 players made their way into the scoring column and the squad will have two more opportunities this week with road games at Galax on Thursday and at Alleghany High on Friday.
The Friday night contest will be a rematch from this past Friday afternoon when the Cavaliers tied it at the buzzer before winning it in Overtime.
