Tip aat1:30 !

8 minutes in the books and we’re knotted up at 8-8. The Cavaliers are listed as the home team on the scoreboard. Four different Cavs scored a basket in the opening frame with each one coming inside of the 3-point line.

Both offenses found a bit more rhythm in the second quarter but the Mountaineers connected on all eight of their free throws in the opening half which allows AHS to take a 29-25 lead into the break.

A 6-0 spurt allowed the Cavs to turn a 19-14 deficit into a 20-19 lead. Ethan Richardson connected on the teams first 3-Ball and was one of six Cavaliers to score in the first half. Elijah Cox finished with 8 points and David Reitzel added seven despite playing the bulk of the half with two fouls.

Second Half action just moments away.

A picture 📷 perfect 6-0 run gives the lead back to CCHS. Cox, Reitzel and Bryce Smoot all convert layups to give the Cavs. A 33-31 lead and force an AHS TO.

What a thrilling finish for the Varsity Boys as they ride the momentum of the game tying basket at the end of regulation to capture a 57-54 contest. More to follow later but for now its time to head over to the Old Gym for the Junior Varsity contest between the same two schools.

Friday Basketball 🏀 has a unique feel on the schedule

The normal routine for game day is 5:30 and 7:00 start times at two different schools. Today’s games will be slightly different for both the Girls and Boys Basketball teams.

On the Girls side the Lady Cavaliers will still be heading up to Radford but instead of 5:30 (JV) and 7:00 (V) the slate will just have one contest and it will begin at 6:00pm.

The Junior Varsity game has been canceled and the Varsity Girls will move up one hour and tipoff at 6pm.

The Boys are set to host Alleghany County High School but will do so over at Floyd County High School. The schedule is set to get underway just past 1pm with the Varsity squads playing first and the JV taking the court closer to 3pm.
