The CCHS Lady Cavaliers (5-0) are set to play one more Non-District contest this Saturday across Lovers Leap @ Magna Vista High School. The action is set to get underway at 1:00pm.

Four teams, Four Games and we will be here for the duration. Moments away from opening Tip number #1 of 4

First quarter in the books and the Cavaliers trail 14-3 after the homesteading Cougars closed the frame on a 8-0 run.

Cougars 28, Cavaliers 8 at the Half.
Cavs looked much more comfortable on defense in the second quarter. Cougars scored 14 once again but had to work harder for them and there was more flow on the offensive end but many shots were blocked and passes deflected.

The Cavaliers came out of the break with the best spurt of the contest. A 6-2 spurt was fueled by the Cavaliers winning a number of 50/50 balls and hustling on both ends of the floor.
After a timeout by the Cougars to settle things down the Cavs were only able to add 2 points the remainder of the frame. For the opening five minutes of the second half the Cougars knew they were in a game.

The Cavaliers played the fourth quarter to a draw with both teams netting 7 points to bring the final score to 59-23. The margin of victory was a little inflated by the scoring burst late in the third quarter.
Six Cavaliers scored in the contest, led by Isaiah Easter with 11 points.
15 minutes on the clock now as the Girls JV contest is next up.

Game #2 is underway !

31-6 @ Halftime.
Plenty of effort being shown by the Lady Cavaliers, just not a great deal of scoring so far.
Cavaliers win the second half by a score of 11-10, not allowing a Cougars fourth quarter basket until 2:13 remained in the frame.

Game #3 of 4 – Boys Basketball 🏀

Cavaliers connect on four 3-pointers in the opening 8 minutes and lead 18-15 after one period. Solid flow on offense for both teams early.

Back and forth for most of the contest but its the Cavaliers by 2 heading into the 4th quarter.

Balanced scoring for the Cavs with 7 players with atleast 2 points.

Nice sized crowd on both sides now with a steady flow still entering the Gym.
Big spurt by the Cavs pushes the lead to 61-51 and the Cougars need a timeout with 3:48 left on the clock ⏰
💅 biter now at 63-60 after a Cougars run
Clutch Free Throws (6-6) seal the deal !

Next up – Game #4 of 4 – Varsity Girls

The Lady Cavaliers took an early TO at the 6:15 mark of the first, trailing 2-0. Not sure what Coach offered his squad but in a blink of an eye CCHS lead 15-5.

Lady Cavaliers leading 21-7 after one with a very balanced offensive attack – 6,6,5 &4

At tthe Half its the Lady Cavaliers doubling up PCHS. Alyssa Ervin leads the way with 13 points but she’s had plenty of help from the rest of the starters plus Katie Lam has added a 3 from the bench.
Great crowd on the Carroll County side all day and many remain as we wait for the second half to get underway.

More to come on the 2nd half !
While the first half was all about a balanced attack for the Cavaliers the third quarter was anything but that for CCHS. The Cougars offense picked up the pace to start the second half while the Cavs efforts were bogged down a bit until Ervin took her game to another level.
Ervin tallied 19 points over the balance of the third quarter, 19 out of the 22 put up by the Lady Cavaliers. The frame ended with a score of 60-34 leaving the outcome no longer in doubt.
The final eight minutes played out to a 6-6 tie and CCHS cruised to a 66-40 victory, a wonderful conclusion to a six hour basketball 🏀 fest.
The Cougars took the opening pair before the Cavaliers swept the Varsity contests. Solid crowd on both sides of the Gymnasium, especially impressive for the road team.
We will see where the trail leads the Cavaliers next week !

The CCHS Boys Junior Varsity team gets the 4 games in 6 hours Hoop Fest underway tomorrow at High Noon at Pulaski County High School.

The Lady Cavaliers won the opening jump ball and never looked back in their Non-District contest versus Roanoke Catholic on Thursday night.
CCHS held the Celtics scoreless until the 4:00 mark of the opening quarter and by the time the visitors were looking up at a 19-0 deficit.

The lead continued to grow with the margin reaching 32-5 at the end of the first frame, much to the delight of the Student Body.

45 -6 @ the Half (13-1 in the 2nd)

17-6 in the third (62-12)
Every player dressed for the Cavaliers have received quality minutes on the floor and CCHS has slowed down its offense with the contest no longer in doubt.

The Lady Cavaliers are scheduled to return to the court on Saturday at Pulaski High School.
The scheduled games between the CCHS at Grayson County will not be played tonight due to a health concern for the Blue Devils.
