Opening Day is an enjoyable one for the Cavaliers Junior Varsity Girls at Fort Chiswell !

11:00 am Tip for our Lady Cavaliers

CCHS pitched a shutout in the opening half of their Day #1 match-up with George Wythe, carrying a 11-0 lead into the locker room.

The Indians rallied in the second half scoring the first six points but the Cavs returned to their defensive ways for the remainder of the 16 minute half.

The 7th and 8th grade Girls were part of the squad giving Head Coach Kayla Nester plenty of depth with a total of 14 dressed players. Six players broke into the scoring column led by Kaci Young and her game high 8 points.

A special Thank You to Marion Harris for his assistance throughout the morning and there’s a plan in place for Mr. Harris to keep us up to date over the next two days!

The lower scoring contest can be attributed to the format being used for the event. The teams played two 16 minute halves with a running clock ⏰ until the final minute of the half.

The young Ladies play hard from start to finish and are an enjoyable watch. There will be two more opportunities to catch them in action Wednesday and Thursday as they continue to compete in the Danny Jonas Memorial Christmas 🎄 Tournament.

Admission is $6 for the Day and there is a Concession stand available for those in attendance.

CCHS scoring – (Unofficial)… Kaci Young 8, Carrie Delp 4, Jocie Dalton 2, Callie Harris 2, Bayleigh Allen 2, Laiken Burnett 1.

Both the Varsity and JV Girls Basketball 🏀 set for 3 Day Holiday events !

The Varsity Girls are making a return trip to Tennessee while the Junior Varsity make a shorter trek, heading over to Fort Chiswell. There will be plenty of coverage for the six games and it starts with the Opening Game in the Danny Jonas Memorial Christmas 🎄 Tournament.

Nothing but Love 💘 for any community who honor their own !

Meanwhile down in Tennessee the Lady Cavaliers are set to get underway at 4pm today in the Smokey Mountain ⛰ Christmas 🎄 Classic. The team is set to compete in the Blue Bracket and open against Barren County (Kentucky)

Carroll County wins its opener 60-43 !
