Everyone Loves a Puzzle, Right ? Trying to unravel the Mystery of Region 3D Volleyball 🏐

As we go further down the path of Post Season Volleyball 🏐 with our Carroll County High School Cavaliers it has become more than obvious that the bracket for the Group of 12 has been sworn to Secrecy.

Maybe locked 🔒 in a vault somewhere for safe keeping 🤔 so with a little help from Marion I started to try my best to make sense of it all.

This is what my research has turned up – there are 12 High Schools 🏫 in the Grouping.

The post season bracket reduced the Group to ten with Staunton River (Golden Eagles) and Northside (Vikings) being on the outside of the playoffs bubble.

#7 – William Byrd of Vinton (Terriers)

#8 – Abingdon Falcons

#9 – Magna Vista Warriors of Pearisburg

#10- Cave Springs of Roanoke (Knights)

These four teams squared off this past Saturday with Abingdon(8) and Cave Springs(10) winning those matches to advance to the Quarterfinals.

The Quarters were held last night in four gyms.

#1 Hidden Valley Titans advanced over #8 Abingdon, 3-0

#2 – Tunstall Trojans advanced over #7 / #10 winner Cave Springs, 3-0

#3 – Carroll County Cavaliers advanced over the #6 Bassett Bengals, 3-0

#4 – Lord Botetourt over #5 Christiansburg Blue Demons 😈 in a match that went the distance.

Moving forward to Thursday night :

#2 Tunstall hosts #3 Carroll County

#1 Hidden Valley hosts #4 Lord Botetourt

Destination : Dry Fork, VA

Just received the update from Marion that Tunstall also swept its match tonight so the Lady Cavaliers will board the bus 🚌 Thursday and head across Lovers Leap to Dry Fork.

The two schools now have a common opponent in Bassett. Tunstall played them twice and won those matches 3-0 & 3-1. CCHS just swept Bassett 3-0 which should translate to a highly competitive match.

What’s another 172 miles on the Bus, especially if you return with a victory !

The results from the #1 vs #8/9 have finally been posted.

Three of the Four have now been recorded with the Higher seed winning in 3 straight.

Let the Games begin ! CCHS Varsity Volleyball 🏐 opens Regional play tonight at 6pm

Carroll County High School welcomes Bassett High School to the Hill tonight in the Quarterfinals of the Class 3 Region D tournament. The field has been reduced to 8 from 10 with tonight being the #3 seed hosting the #6 seed.

A Cavaliers victory would propel the team to a Thursday night showdown with the winner of the #2 versus #7 match being played tonight at Tunstall High School in Dry Fork.

This post will be updated throughout the day and then there will be a live blog from the Gym at 6pm.

GO CAVALIERS !
