Glenvar and Carroll County moved their match scheduled for tonight was held last night 🌙 so that left a gap on the Calender for tonight so its Alleghany at Radford as a fill-in. CCHS has faced both schools one time already with the rematches slated for the next two weeks.
I could try and chalk this up to advance scouting but the reality is far from that. It’s just another chance to shine a positive light on some of our Three River District neighbors.

In the other District match on Thursday night James River captured its third straight match by defeating Floyd County. The schedule had the team play District matches on three consecutive nights and after starting league play at 0-3 they are now back to .500 at 3-3.
By comparison to James River and Alleghany its a short trip for CCHS to make the loop up to Glenvar but its still a healthy school bus ride for the two VB squads.
The action is set to get underway at 5:30pm and we will do our best to keep you in the know from start to finish. Four regular season matches will remain at the end of the evening for the Lady Cavilers.

Glenvar holds on for a 28-26 victory to close out the match. If there’s such a thing as a Moral victory in Sports we just witnessed one, after dropping a lopsided opening game the Lady Cavilers bounced back in a big way.

12 and Under Rec League (Roanoke County) were playing football under the bright lights when I departed from the Gym.
I can only imagine just how cool 😎 the youngsters think playing on a turf field under the lights and in front of one of the prettier settings in the region.
Glenvar 30-8 over visiting Salem late in the 3rd quarter.
James River upsets the Ladder portion of the standings by upsetting Radford tonight at home in four games.
Both squads finish the first half of the district season at 2-3 with both of James River’s win coming in the last 48 hours.
Tonight Radford and James River will get together to close out the first half of District play. If Radford holds serve it will create what I like to call the Ladder.
Glenvar 5-0
CCHS 4-1
Radford 2-2, would become 3-2
Floyd County 2-3
James River 1-3, would drop to 1-4
Alleghany 0-5
It’s only every so often that the entire league holds serve for an entire rotation through the League contests.
Glenvar bested everyone, CCHS turned away everyone except Glenvar and Radford would have accomplished the same thing over the lower half of the standings. The bottom three teams would follow the same format.
Tonight’s Radford vs James River match will be joined by the opening match of the second half as Carroll County travels up I-81 to face Glenvar.
If the Cavilers were to best the Highlanders it will create quite the race for the top spot for the remainder of the regular season. But if Glenvar prevails they would have a two game lead and the tie breaker over the Cavilers.
Carroll County welcomes the closest thing that they have to a neighboring team in District play, the Floyd County Buffaloes for a Volleyball 🏐 match that will conclude the first half of round robin play.
The Lady Cavaliers are 3-1 in the league without having to play a fifth set in any of their matches.
