On the Road with the Lady Cavilers Volleyball 🏐 team

By comparison to James River and Alleghany its a short trip for CCHS to make the loop up to Glenvar but its still a healthy school bus ride for the two VB squads.

The action is set to get underway at 5:30pm and we will do our best to keep you in the know from start to finish. Four regular season matches will remain at the end of the evening for the Lady Cavilers.

JV Match underway at 5:38

Timeout Carroll County, trailing 7-2

2nd TO – Glenvar up 15-5

Game #1 goes to the Highlanders, 25-9

Game #2

Cavs take a 5-3 lead early!

Cavs remain up 11-9

CCHS leads 14-13

Cavs push lead to 17-13, Glenvar calls a TO

Remarkable bounce back from Game #1

CCHS TO – score tied at 17

CCHS 20-19

21-21

22-22

23 All

Timeout Cavilers, trailing 24-23

Such an impressive πŸ‘ bounce back for Carroll County in Game 2.

Glenvar holds on for a 28-26 victory to close out the match. If there’s such a thing as a Moral victory in Sports we just witnessed one, after dropping a lopsided opening game the Lady Cavilers bounced back in a big way.

25 minutes on the clock ⏰ now as the Varsity squads have taken the court.

705pm – GameTime

Glenvar 6-2

Cavs TO, down 9-3

Glenvar leads 16-6

Cavs TO at 17-6

Glenvar 22-12

Game #2

Glenvar 6-1, Cavs timeout

Looking back at the Glenvar results for the season up to this point it turns out that not only have the Highlanders yet to face a Game 5 just Giles has managed to force a fourth game.

Glenvar up 15-5

Timeout CCHS, trailing 18-5

Cavilers string together a few points before falling 25-9 in Game 2 (7:43)

CCHS gets a much better start in Game 3, tied 7-7

CCHS TO, down 10-7

Just realized that the score can’t be updated on Max Preps because they still have the match being played tomorrow.

8 unanswered points for Glenvar makes it 15-7

20-10

24-13

25-14 is the final score at 8:04 pm.

CCHS put up a good effort but came up short versus the #1 ranked team in Class 2 for the State of Virginia.

Carroll County gets an extra day off now and returns to the court next Tuesday evening in Radford versus the Bobcats.

Highlight of the night πŸŒ™ came in Game 2 of the JV Match.

Highlight #2 – is the matches with Glenvar are now in the rear view mirror.

Max Preps is working on the schedule correction and the scores will be posted once they can be.

12 and Under Rec League (Roanoke County) were playing football under the bright lights when I departed from the Gym.

I can only imagine just how cool 😎 the youngsters think playing on a turf field under the lights and in front of one of the prettier settings in the region.

Glenvar 30-8 over visiting Salem late in the 3rd quarter.

James River upsets the Ladder portion of the standings by upsetting Radford tonight at home in four games.

Both squads finish the first half of the district season at 2-3 with both of James River’s win coming in the last 48 hours.

Three Rivers District VB standings could have a Ladder in place at the halfway point.

Tonight Radford and James River will get together to close out the first half of District play. If Radford holds serve it will create what I like to call the Ladder.

Glenvar 5-0

CCHS 4-1

Radford 2-2, would become 3-2

Floyd County 2-3

James River 1-3, would drop to 1-4

Alleghany 0-5

It’s only every so often that the entire league holds serve for an entire rotation through the League contests.

Glenvar bested everyone, CCHS turned away everyone except Glenvar and Radford would have accomplished the same thing over the lower half of the standings. The bottom three teams would follow the same format.

Tonight’s Radford vs James River match will be joined by the opening match of the second half as Carroll County travels up I-81 to face Glenvar.

If the Cavilers were to best the Highlanders it will create quite the race for the top spot for the remainder of the regular season. But if Glenvar prevails they would have a two game lead and the tie breaker over the Cavilers.
