Page County had an early dismissal on Friday which gave Coach Comer and his staff two extra hours to prepare for visiting Stonewall Jackson. First on the list at 1:30- check to see if striping the gridiron is an option after all of the rain.

The answer was a resounding No. There was still plenty of prep work to be done though by Coach Comer and P.E partner Coach Alan Knight. The next stop was the Lunch meeting in Shenandoah at Cousin Boogies. More game planning for the 7:30 kickoff that is now less than five hours away.

Coach Comer meeting with Freshman football players
Getting the message out early- next year starts now!
Coach Comer took advantage of his lunch break , using the time to meet with his freshman football players. The JV team just completed a 4-5 season and Comer tells the younger Panthers that it is time to hit the weights. Part of turning around a program is getting the players to go 365 days.
It has been 30 years since I was in a High School Gym class before this morning but here I am as we take a behind the scenes look at A Day in the LIfe of a High School Football Coach. Mr. Frank Comer is finishing his 3RD season at the helm of the Page County Panthers of the Shenandoah District. Coach Comer and his squad are due to play Stonewall Jackson at home tonight at 7:30 P.M. in the season finale.
Eight seniors will tie up the laces for the final time wearing the Carolina Blue and White tonight. Dakota Wolfe, Eric Baker, Anthony Cubbage, Zach Williams, Chad Lam, Wesley Carroll, Mark Kramer and D.J. Bolyard have taken part in Panther football for the past five seasons. Tonight they will be recognized for their years of dedication in a Senior Night celebration at 7:05 P.M.
The goal today was to go behind the scenes with Coach Comer to catch a glimpse of a typical Game Day routine at the High School level. Opening bell rings at 8:10 A.M. but the prep work starts even earlier. Comer teams with fellow coach/teacher Alan Knight to run the Physical Education department at PCHS as well as teaching Drivers Education. Time to head to the gym for Block 1 and a game called K-9 Kickball…
