Head Coach Suzanne Mathias and her Rams are hosting James Wood in a softball double header beginning at 5:00. Right next door will be the finals of the Strasburg Hard Ball Tourney between Buffalo Gap & Jeff Smoot’s home standing Rams.
Strasburg captures the Ram Hard Ball title and there will be plenty of pics up later today of both Strasburg & Buffalo Gap…
After going 0-2 at Draft and Wilson, we went in search of our good buddy Jim Sacco over at the News Virginian. We love talking sports with Jim but our mark stood at 0-3 after we couldn’t find Jim either. We received an inside tip that he was moonlighting around the corner so we grabbed the camera and went searching for him.
Could this really be him ?
In the reporting business you have to be sure so we called out to Jim for verification . The next pic shows him singing and dancing in joy so maybe we had found our guy!
In search of Jim...
On a serious note we did head back to the newspaper and found Mr. Rob Sisk at his desk and managed to talk Generals baseball with him for an hour or so. Always a treat to visit with Mr. Sisk and look forward to reading the paper tomorrow.
We try our best to mix things up here at ATV-60 and since we spent Thursday night in Shenandoah County with Central we figured we should head south.
The hope was to catch the Little Giants @ Stuart Draft but the weather eliminated that option. Our next goal was to try and visit with Coach Derek McDaniel over at Wilson Memorial.
We searched high and low over in Fishersville but there was no one to be found there either. Check the next post for how the story ends.
Welcome to Bo Bowers Baseball StadiumWe did take the time to look around the campus and take a few pics. The numbers that Coach Bowers put up were/are amazing. Standing water on the infieldNext time you are at Wilson you should take the time to read about the accomplishments of Coach Bowers.
From 5:00 until 10:00 P.M. a misty rain fell across the ball diamonds in Woodstock but that did not prevent the Falcons from hosting the teams from Sherando. Tommy Keeler had the softball duties and Dennis Atwood covered the baseball game. Check out both gamers at www.nvdaily.com later.

A different look at the action

Three of the folks that sat through the misty weather. I hear that one of them has a tennis match today.
Not quite the Citgo sign behind the Green Monster but the Arby’s sign still looks pretty cool.

Dennis needed a glow in the dark pen Thursday night but I’m sure the gamer will be just fine. Check it out at http://www.nvdaily.com
These five weren’t going to let a little misty rain keep them away.

Mickey, Roger, Susan & Mr. Chris. Last night was my initial conversation with the Central Principal.
Central’s Short Stop and Left Fielder awaiting the next pitch
Dennis was there taking pics for the NVD and was telling me about his recent adventure to the Dominican Republic. The cap is from one of the ball teams in the DR and we think it is the one that Manny played for.
Runners on the corners and fielders on their toes as the pitch comes.

Tommy Keeler is in his 14TH year of covering the Shenandoah Valley sports teams. TK has covered somewhere in the area of 2,000 sporting events during his time with the Northern Virginia Daily. You can catch TK’s gamer on the Sherando at Central softball game @ http://www.nvd.com
I first noticed something was wrong in the Ram family yeaterday when I read Katie Baker’s notes on Facebook. I knew something was wrong in the extended Strasburg family but I didn’t know what until today.
I will add the link here to the story that Chuck McGill wrote for todays NVD (www.nvdaily.com ). Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Ram family in hopes of a speedy recovery.
